The Coles Express NBL1 North Blitz will return in April giving fans a first look at how the competition is shaping up in 2022.
Set to be hosted by the Northside Wizards from Friday 1 – Sunday 3 April, NBL1 North teams will test their mettle over an action packed three days.
"The 2021 NBL1 North Blitz was a huge success and laid the foundation for an exciting inaugural NBL1 North season," said BQ Operations Manager Chris Angus.
"Following on from last season, fans know to expect a high level of competition in what is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, NBL1 conferences in Australia.
"With the introduction of North Gold Coast Seahawks and the Darwin Salties and the number of exciting signings we’ve seen so far, the Blitz is the perfect opportunity to showcase the talent in the league before the season gets underway."
The 2022 Blitz will follow the same format as the NBL Blitz tournament, with a Men and Women’s Tournament Champion to be awarded on the Sunday.
All games are worth a maximum of 7 points; 3 points are awarded to the winning team, with an additional point awarded to the side that wins each quarter.
In the event a quarter is tied, both teams receive half of a point (0.5).
If a game goes into overtime, no additional points are awarded.
Players from teams entered in the Blitz are also eligible to compete in the 3 Point competition.
NBL1 North Blitz teams nominations are now open and are due by Friday, 4 March.
