The Hobart Chargers have signed hometown star Ellie Collins for the 2021 NBL1 South season.
Starting her basketball journey in Hobart through junior affiliate Cavaliers before moving to the Southern Wolves, Collins has played at all levels across Australia from local senior competitions, to representing Tasmania at junior level. She also has WNBL experience, playing for the Perth Lynx in the 2018/19 WNBL season.
Collins played for Hobart in the 2019 NBL1 season, averaging 16.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, and she can’t wait to play in her home city again.
“I love playing for Hobart with the home crowd, and being a local girl it always means a lot to play for Hobart,” she said via the Hobart Mercury.
“I know a lot of people here so it’s always great playing in front of people you know.”
Collins is also setting the bar high for the Chargers in the 2021 season, hoping they can bring the ultimate success to the Apple Isle.
“Everyone wants to win a championship so that’s the ultimate goal,” she said.
“Working together and being a team on court, that will be the first goal.”
