Creek returns to guide Giants Men in 2022

The Goldfields Giants men's team have begun their 2022 preparation with the re-signing of head coach Wayne Creek for the NBL1 2022 season.

Creek will return to the role for his fourth consecutive season, and sixth overall.

Recording a 51-51 win/loss record over his five seasons so far, Creek only has had one losing season, in 2021, which saw the Giants start well early before injuries derailed their inaugural NBL1 West season.

Giants chairman Russell Duncan spoke highly of Creek and what he has achieved with the Giants during his three years back in the role.

"Wayne has been nothing but a consummate professional in the way he approaches the job," Duncan said.

"Throughout much adversity over the last two years, he's giving the club some great stability and consistency going forward with the continued development of some of our local contingents like Jerome Reid, Sam Morrow, Harrison Klasztorny and Noah Hinkley who has just started his college basketball career in the US.

"With Wayne's re-appointment, we’re excited about getting that right mix of players in to give our loyal members, partners and fans across the state the excitement of having a winning Giants' culture once again.

"We look forward to seeing them all take the next step going forward."

Creek, who has over 400 games under his belt as a player and coach since starting his career with the Giants in 1991 was part of the clubs' inaugural SBL championship in 2007 and was named to the Giants All-Time team in 2009 as part of their 20th Anniversary celebrations.
