Hobart Chargers sealed a 76-66 victory over Launceston Tornadoes on Saturday evening at Elphin Sports Stadium, taking control in the second half after a tight opening period.
The Chargers dominated with their defensive pressure, forcing 24 turnovers while committing just 15 of their own. Chelsea D'Angelo led the way with 21 points, six steals and five assists, shooting an efficient 90 percent from the charity stripe (9-of-10). Taylor Roberts added 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, while Sharna Thompson and Ellie Collins combined for 27 points. Hobart's defensive intensity was the difference, with the team recording 18 steals and nine blocks.
Launceston was paced by the double-double duo of Megan Mullings and Keely Froling, who each scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. The Tornadoes struggled to take care of the ball, with Froling committing seven turnovers in an otherwise strong performance. Taya Webb added 11 points including three triples, but the team's 24 turnovers proved costly despite shooting 35 percent from outside compared to Hobart's 20 percent.
