Basketball Ballarat have announced the return of Zac Dunmore who will continue with the Ballarat Miners in the 2021 NBL1 South Season.
Dunmore will return after his first season with Ballarat after the inaugural NBL1 South Season in 2019 after coming out of Ararat in Western Victoria.
“I am super excited to be signing with the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners for the NBL1 South Season. It's been a while since we last played in Ballarat but I'm definitely looking forward to getting on the court with the guys and hopefully having a good crack at the championship,” Dunmore said.
Dunmore is looking forward to the return of crowds and playing in the new venue in Ballarat.
“I'm definitely looking forward to playing in Ballarat again especially after a long break and in front of the Ballarat Community at the new Ballarat Sports Events Centre which will provide a great atmosphere for both the Miners and Rush,” he said.
As a regular across Basketball Ballarat’s Community Programs, Dunmore is known as a great role model for juniors aspiring to improve on the court and he was looking forward to playing a role in that this year.
“I can't wait to be involved with the Ballarat Community once again this year. I always look forward to meeting new people in Ballarat and they make the best crowd in the whole of NBL1,” Dunmore said.
Coach of the Miners, Brendan Joyce, was looking forward to having Dunmore back in the team for the upcoming season.
“We are all really happy and excited to have Zac back for NBL1 South 2021 after coming back from a serious foot injury. Zac played limited minutes off the bench in the 2019 NBL1 Season and had a very good season developing with our Youth League team who now move up to the Division 1 State Championship competition,” Joyce said.
With Dunmore being the first announced player signing for Ballarat, Joyce mentioned that Dunmore was capable of a bigger role for the team in 2021.
“Like everyone else, Zac missed the NBL1 2020 competition because of the competition cancellation due to Covid-19. We are hopeful and looking for Zac to improve to challenge for an opportunity for increased minutes with the unavailability and departure of sharp shooter Tristan Fisher joining the army,” Joyce said.
“Zac is capable and can fill that role as he is a very good shooter and the coaching staff will be looking for him to continue to work to improve and develop his defensive game and handle the ball more in 2021.”
