Eagles swoop on Australia representative Samantha Simons

Forestville has announced the signing of childhood Eagle Samantha Simons for the 2021 NBL1 Central season.

Forestville has announced the signing of childhood Eagle Samantha Simons for the 2021 NBL1 Central season.

Simons began her basketball journey with the Eagles at the age of six and quickly progressed through the junior ranks.

From there, she got the opportunity to represent South Australia at U16, U18 and U20 Nationals.

Simons made the move to the AIS in 2016 and spent two years at the prestigious centre in Canberra.

While at the AIS, Simons represented Australia in the U17 and U19 Championships.

In 2017, she was a part of a gold medal-winning team while in 2019, she led the team to a silver medal as vice-captain.

Her next step was heading to California in 2018 to play for St Mary’s, where she has spent the past three years.

But due to the COVID-19 situation, Simons made the decision to return to Australia and remain down under for the NBL1 Central competition, which is a huge boost to the Eagles’ line-up.
