The Eastern Mavericks men’s team are set to be “extremely competitive” this season according to NBL1 Central expert Tristan Prentice.

The Eastern Mavericks men’s team are set to be “extremely competitive” this season according to NBL1 Central expert Tristan Prentice.
The Mavericks sit at 1-1 at the end of Round 2 after their 93-86 victory over the Southern Tigers on Saturday night. The win was the Eastern Mavericks’ third straight victory over the Tigers.
Prentice spoke on the Eastern Mavericks’ standout players on the first episode of The NBL1 Show with host Megan Hustwaite.
Prentice acknowledged the effort of new import Jack Hemphill in their first win of the season. Hemphill moved to NBL1 Central after playing college basketball in the United States for the St. Francis Terriers in Brooklyn, New York.
Hemphill recorded a massive 33 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.
Former NBL1 East player Jasper Rentoy impacted the game with nine rebounds and nine assists.
The Eastern Mavericks men’s are seventh on the ladder before they face the third on the ladder, Forestville Eagles, in tonight’s clash.
With the Eastern Mavericks’ performance so far, Prentice said they will be a key team to watch this season in the hopes of turning around their bottom of the ladder position last year.
“They do look like a team that’s not going to be easy to beat in 2023,” Prentice said.
“We are certainly going to see the Eastern Mavericks be extremely competitive this year.”
