Force sign WNBL player McDermott in NBL1 North

The Ipswich Force have announced the signing of Kelsey McDermott for the 2021 NBL1 North season.

The Ipswich Force have announced the signing of Kelsey McDermott for the 2021 NBL1 North season.

McDermott comes to the Force on the back of spending the WNBL season as a Development Player with the Townsville Fire.

She hails from Mackay, where she played her junior career, was selected multiple times for Queensland teams to play at Australian Junior Championship tournaments and ultimately represented the Mackay Meteorettes in the QBL. McDermott attended Newberry College in the US.

“I am really glad that we can add a player, and a person, of Kelsey’s calibre to our program,” coach Brady Walmsley said.

“Kelsey is a player who has the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor in a variety of different ways and is someone that will immediately add to the athletic profile of our team.

“Not only is she an impact player at this level, but we are getting her on her upward trajectory and I am confident she is ready to assert herself on the competition in 2021. Kelsey and I have worked together previously on junior state teams and I look forward to reuniting.”
