The Ipswich Force women's team have announced the signing of Abby Bishop for NBL1 North 2021.

The Ipswich Force women's team have announced the signing of Abby Bishop for NBL1 North 2021.

Bishop comes to the Force as one of Australia's most decorated players, having spent time at the AIS, WNBL, Europe and the WNBA. Bishop has won medals at international competitions as a member of the Australian Opals, including a bronze medal at the Olympic Games.

She is a WNBA championship winner, a three time WNBL championship winner, a WNBL MVP and a WNBL Rookie of the Year.

"Abby's accolades speak for themselves, but she is far more than the achievements listed on her playing CV," coach Brady Walmsley said.

"Abby is an inspirational role model to female sportspeople around the world, and her impact on our program is going to transcend the box score. I'm proud to call Abby a friend and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work together in NBL1 North 2021."

Bishop reiterated the enthusiasm, saying, "I am excited to be joining the Force family.

"Brady is a great coach, but most importantly a great person, who knows how to cultivate an environment that encourages both excellence and enjoyment.

"At the backend of my career, its important to me to be surrounded by good people and to have fun. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and doing what I can to contribute to success in 2021."

Bishop is currently plying her trade in Europe and looks forward to joining the Force this season.
