With the re-signing of Men's head coach Wayne Creek, the Northern Star Resources Goldfields Giants have looked to the US and imported players again for the 2022 season, with the signing of US import recruit Hussayn Ford.

It will be the first instance since before the cancelled 2020 State Basketball League season that the Giants will look at bringing imported players into the country, having played the last two seasons with all Australian/New Zealand lineups due to international border closures.

Ford joins the Giants after a four year college career, firstly at the Pierce Raiders and most recently with the Northwest University Eagles (NAIA) where he graduated in 2020.
He is currently playing for the Seattle Mountaineers alongside former Giants import Duran Blue in the American Basketball Association, in it's return season from a Covid-19 season cancellation late last year.

In his final season of college at Northwest, he led the NAIA in rebounds at 12.03 rebounds per game, along with averaging 17.8 points at 55% shooting, on the way to receiving 2nd Team NAIA All American honours and being named to the All-Star game.
He will anchor the Giants interior at both ends of the court, and although just 198cm (6'6"), he regularly plays much bigger than that, often racking up double doubles and dominating the rebound stats.

Seattle Mountaineers head coach Don Sims spoke very highly of Ford. “Hussayn is a very special player with a high motor and unique skill set,” Sims said.
“He has the skills to play three or four positions; he is very versatile and can play inside or on the wing. He is a surefire overseas prospect.”

The Seattle Mountaineers have been a happy recruiting ground for the Giants in seasons past, with Ford to become the third Giants player to be recruited from them, joining Duran Blue (2014) and JB Pillard (2017) as recruits from the organisation to head to the Goldfields.

Ford is due to arrive in Kalgoorlie in February/March next year in preparation for the commencement of the NBL1 West season in April.
