The Meneghello Industrial Group City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of NBL1 Men's Head Coach Lucas Allen for the next 3 seasons. Lucas has an extensive and elite coaching background ranging from the NBL, Australian Junior National Programs, BigV Championship teams and Basketball Victoria State teams.

Lucas Joined the South East Melbourne Phoenix in 2019 as a Technical Assistant and was promoted to Assistant Coach for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. During his time at the Phoenix, Lucas worked with NBA players such as Ryan Broekhoff, Mitch Creek, Zhou Qi and Ben Moore and Australian players Adam Gibson and Cameron Gliddon, just to name a few.

Lucas was also the Head Coach of the Wyndham Basketball Association in the BigV winning the championship in 2022 and 2024. He was named BigV Coach of the Year in 2023. At Wyndham Lucas also held the position of Coaching Lead where he oversaw player and coach development of a large 10,000 member association. Prior to Wyndham Lucas was the Head Coach of the Southern Peninsula Sharks in the BigV, again winning the championship in 2019. At Southern Peninsula he also held the role of Director of Coaching.

Lucas served as the Head Coach of Basketball Victoria State teams at the National Championships between 2016 and 2020. This included coaching current NBA star Dyson Daniels. Under his leadership the team won a Silver Medal in 2016.

Lucas's other experience includes being a technical assistant with Melbourne United in the NBL and with Australian teams at FIBA Oceania qualifying tournaments. He has also coached at the Centre of Excellence in AUS Development Camps as well as holding the position of Basketball Victoria National Intensive Training Program (NITP) Head Coach.

Wolves CEO Andrew Summerville was elated to announce the signing of the clubs new coach:

"Lucas is a huge signing for our club and is arguably one of the sharpest coaching talents in the country.  He is a proven winner which is what we were looking for when we signed him. We make no secret of the fact that we want to be the biggest and the best, so we need a coach that can take us to another level. We believe Lucas is that guy. To have a coach with NBL coaching experience join our program is really exciting and I cant wait to see what he can do with the team.

I have known Lucas for 10 years from my time in Victoria and I know he is a hard worker, driven and wants to succeed.  He is a fantastic player developer, tactician and extremely professional. With an overall win rate of 70% as a Head Coach, he definitely has what it takes"

On signing with the Wolves Lucas had the following to say:

"Being trusted to lead the Wolves NBL1 program into their next phase is something that I am immensely proud of and excited for.  It is clear to me that Joondalup is incredibly professional, driven and they strive for excellence – traits that I am thrilled to be aligned with.  Helping this program take its next steps forwards, we will be exciting and engaging to watch, we will pursue excellence in everything we do and ensure that we make our families, fans, and the Wolfpack community proud".
