Former WNBL Rookie of the Year joins Chargers

The Hobart Chargers have announced the signing of experienced NBL1 campaigner and former WNBL Rookie of the Year, Tayla Roberts for the 2021 NBL1 South season. 

Taking her spot across the power forward and centre positions, Roberts will bring size and presence to the Chargers in 2021 as she looks to help lead this young local women's team into the playoffs. 

A seasoned campaigner with over a decade of experience, Tayla will look to help develop a young roster that features plenty of promise going into the future. 

On the court, Roberts makes her presence known down low on both ends of the floor. 

Offensively, her ability to post up and dominate her opponent with her back to the basket creates a problem for all defences she faces. 

When needed, she can face up and put the ball on the floor to find the best position to score. 

Not just limited to the low post, Roberts can find a cutting teammate or open shooter with her passing from the elbow or stretch the defence with a reliable jump shot. 

Defensively, Roberts loves nothing more than blocking shots when she is challenged at the rim or starting the break with a big rebound and outlet pass. 

With the prospect of teaming up with Maddie Garrick, Ellie Collins, Sharna Thompson and Kathleen Scheer, the Hobart Chargers will be a team to watch this season in NBL1 South.
