The Warwick Senators edged out the Lakeside Lightning 83-81 on Saturday evening at Lakeside Recreation Centre.
The Senators' perimeter shooting made the difference, connecting on 44 percent from outside compared to the Lightning's 36 percent. Chloe Forster led all scorers with 28 points, getting to the charity stripe consistently with 10 made free throws on 13 attempts. Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard was lights out from beyond the arc, hitting six triples on just eight attempts as part of her 22-point performance. The Senators' ball movement was exceptional with 20 assists, including seven from Forster and four each from Clinch Hoycard and Kyana Weir.
The Lightning showed fight despite the loss, dominating inside with 26 points in the paint to Warwick's 14. Oceane Kounkou paced Lakeside with 21 points including five triples, while Kennedi Williams added 17 points. Teige Morrell secured a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards. The Lightning claimed the battle on the glass with 43 rebounds to the Senators' 40, including 16 offensive boards that led to second-chance opportunities.
