Last night the club celebrated the launch of the NBL1 South and Big V Youth Championship 2023 Seasons, at the Men's naming rights partner; the Frankston RSL
It was an opportunity for us the senior program to come together outside of a basketball stadium and look ahead at the year to come.
The club also took the opportunity to unveil the new contemporary away uniform, moving away from the white, back to the club's heritage in light blue.
Both of the club's Youth League coaches, Tony Jackson and Duncan Berg, spoke about the challenges 2023 would bring, including the level of competition challenge Championship division brings.
NBL1 South Head Coaches Dean Kinsman and Andrew Harms announced their captains for the NBL1 South 2023 Season in Ella Batish and Lucas Barker.
Ella Batish, the NBL1 Women's captain is someone who leads and represents our club on many different levels. From her engagement with the juniors within the club and wider association to her relationships with the NBL1 Women's playing roster.
Andrew Harms recognised the handing over of the torch from Igor Hadziomerovic who has been our Men's captain since his arrival to the club in 2019, to Lucas Barker. Harms spoke about leadership, and where the eyes go when things get tough.
It was also announced the NBL1 Men's coach Andrew Harms' contract had been extended an additional two years, until the end of the 2026 Season. (Frankston Trio Sign Coaching Extension)
FDBA CEO Wayne Holdsworth spoke about the evening.
“The night was an opportunity to set the season up from an Association perspective. I was delighted with the attendance and obvious passion and commitment to represent the Frankston Blues with distinction”
The NBL1 South 2023 Season starts this Saturday for the Frankston Blues teams away against the Bendigo Braves
