The Norwood Flames have announced the re-signing of Matt Lycett and Anthony Green for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 Central season.
Last year, Lycett averaged 13 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists on 43 percent shooting from the field.
He had a season-high of 21 twice, against South and Southern.
His second half of the campaign was vintage Lycett, as he averaged 15.5 points and put together a great run of games that continued into finals.
With a silky jump shot, veteran IQ and solid defensive acumen, Lycett again will form part of the core going into 2022.
Coach Tim Odell said: "Matt embodies the club’s values and is a pillar of the culture we are building.
"His talent and experience make him an asset for us and a great role model for our Juniors to look up to."
As the former league MVP, Lycett has evolved his game and played a major part of Norwood’s run to the Grand final in 2021.
This will be Lycett’s twelfth year in the Norwood NBL1 program.
Lycett is looking forward to the possibilities of what 2022 can bring.
"I am looking forward to learning from Tim and continuing to improve," he said.
"I'm excited for the year and where the team can go and hopefully it's one better than last year!"
As a 6’10 Centre from Quincy, Massachusetts, Anthony played four years of Division 1 NCAA with the North Eastern Huskies under Coach Bill Coen.
In his first year in Australia, Anthony averaged 11.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
He had a season-high of 21 points against Southern.
The first half of the season was bumpy for Green, as he got used to the different style of play here and his teammates.
But by the second half of the season, Green found his feet and you could find him regularly in the NBL1 Top 10 Plays of the Week.
Green was feeling positive about the upcoming season.
"I’m excited to be back for another year, also I’m excited for what Norwood as a team and club have to offer after last season after making it to the Grand Final," he said.
With Green locked in as a big who dominates the paint, coach Odell is looking at making him more of a focal point of the offence and giving him opportunities to show more of what he can do.
"I couldn’t be happier to have Anthony continue for 2022, he will be a crucial key to our success," Odell said.
"Aside from being our defensive anchor, we are excited to see him take on more responsibility offensively.
"The sky’s the limit for him."
NBL1 GM Will Smith also sees what role Green can play.
"Anthony gave us exactly what we needed as a key-way presence," Smith said.
"He protects the hoop as good as anyone in NBL1 and puts a lot of pressure on the opposing team’s rim, as he attacks it with as much ferocity as we have seen in NBL1 Central in a long time.
"With our roster in 2022, we see Anthony being an even bigger focal point and a dominant force on both ends."
Now more accustomed to the Aussie culture, Green is really enjoying himself in the community and exploring the surrounds of Adelaide.
He will also continue his coaching in the community, helping out with our Junior Programs.
