The Perry Lakes Hawks women’s team is quickly becoming a threat in NBL1 West, with WNBL youngster Emma Clarke becoming a significant force.
Clarke, who is also signed to the Sydney Uni Flames in the WNBL, has displayed her growth throughout the season with the Hawks, contributing to their four-game winning streak.
The Hawks dominated in Round 8 over the struggling Eastern Suns and took out an 82-64 win at home. Clarke scored more points than minutes she played in a thrilling offensive rampage against the Suns.
The 22-year-old recorded 33 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists in 30 minutes. Clarke managed to hit seven out of eight threes for her squad, a stat line which she will surely take confidence from for the rest of the campaign.
Clarke averages 21.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
Her standout performance over the weekend caught the attention of NBL1 West expert Greg Hire on the NBL1 Show.
“It was a shooting display,” Hire said on the latest episode of The NBL1 Show.
“This is what you like to see in the WNBL offseason, is those players that are trying to stake a claim.”
Hire praised Clarke’s efforts in tackling every game with a winning mindset, resulting in a spike of confidence.
“To see her growing confidence if there is a question mark around her game, it’s her shooting. To shoot 7 from 8 is absolutely incredible,” Hire said.
“Perry Lakes Hawks continue winning, and it’s because of Emma Clarke.”
