Howe commits to lead the Pioneers

The Mount Gambier Pioneers have announced the re-signing of Jasmin Howe.

Howe. a Millicent local. had committed to the Pioneers for the 2020 season after spending some time overseas in the college system as well as opportunities in the WNBL with the Townsville Fire.

Unfortunately the 2020 season was cancelled in late March due to COVID.

"I am very happy to have Jasmin return to our club. She’s a fierce competitor and has a strong desire to develop women’s basketball in our region," coach Matt Sutton said.

Sutton has appointed Howe as the captain of the Pioneers for the club's debut season in NBL1. An appointment that is hugely exciting for the club and well deserved given her commitment of building a solid foundation for the clubs women’s programme.

"As captain of our side Jazzy’s role won’t change, she has been our vocal leader through pre-season so far and always sets a high standard for the way she trains and prepares," Sutton said.

The club will travel to Adelaide next weekend for further preseason games against NBL1 Central clubs. The club hopes to add a few additional players to complement the clubs women’s roster ahead of the NBL1 South season starting at home against Bendigo on the 17th of April, 2021.
