Diamond Valley Eagles have annouced a major coaching change ahead of the NBL1 South 2026 season, with Jamie Petty appointed as the club’s new Men’s Head Coach, following the decision by outgoing coach Jack Fleming to step down.
Fleming, a Diamond Valley junior and long-time junior coach, said the choice was incredibly difficult but the right one for his family at this stage.
“After careful consideration, I have made the decision to step down from Men’s NBL1 Head Coach. With new significant life and family commitments, I won’t be able to give the program the level of time and attention it deserves. I’ll always be an advocate of the program and wish the team every success moving forward.” said Jack Fleming
The Diamond Valley Basketball Association thanked Fleming for his service and reaffirmed their full support of his decision.
With the transition already in motion, the Eagles have moved quickly to secure experienced coach Jamie Petty, whose résumé across NBL1, national and state programs made him a standout candidate.
Petty will step straight into the role and begin leading the 2026 roster build.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to step into the head coach role at Diamond Valley. This club has been a fantastic place to be, and I’m really looking forward to building something special with this team and community.” said Jamie Petty.
DVBA said Petty’s appointment signals the start of an exciting new chapter.
“Jamie’s impressive NBL1, national and state résumé speaks for itself and is a standout appointment to take on the Men’s NBL1 team. He will begin working with the roster immediately as preparations for 2026 continue.”
Diamond Valley are expected to make further announcements in the coming days as the club finalises coaching roles and continues early work on next year’s squad.
The NBL1 South 2026 season tips off on Friday 27th March 2026. For all the latest updates, including player signings, coaching appointments and league news, make sure you’re following NBL1 South on Facebook and Instagram.
