Frankston Blues (FDBA) are pleased to announce that Jo Wood has signed an extension with the club until the end of the NBL1 South 2024 Season, in the role of NBL1 Women's Assistant Coach.
Jo joined the club in 2021 following an extensive coaching tenure with the Sandringham Sabres, including multiple Victorian Championship Premierships and back-to-back Championships with the club's Victorian Youth Championship Women in 2017 and 2018.
As a player, Jo played over 300 WNBL and SEABL games, was a member of the Australian Gems squad and the Great Britain National Women's squad.
Outside of the Blues Senior program, Jo currently coaches the club's Girls Under 12.7 'Future Blues' and this year Head Coached the Victorian Under 20 Women at Basketball Australia's National Championships.

When Head Coach Dean Kinsman joined the club, Jo Wood was the first person he wanted returning, joining as part of his team. Now a few rounds into the 2023 season, Dean is super excited to say Jo is locked in and on board with us for the forseeable future.
"Jo has been a really balanced, calm person that has a good history with the club and is really good with the group."
"Our synergy as a coaching staff has been really good. I'm so looking forward to her further coaching involvment. It's just an awesome appointment"

Earlier this season Jo Wood took on the duties of Head Coach of our NBL1 Women, in the absence of Head Coach Dean Kinsman.
"We knew in advance I was taking off. But Jo was so well prepared and so organised. She was really repsonsive to the group and the players were really repsonsive to her."
FDBA CEO Wayne Holdsworth spoke about the extension.
”Jo has been a wonderful asset to the NBL1 Blues Women’s program.”
"Her expertise combined with her values aligning with the FDBA, makes for a very successful combination.”
