KANE DE WIT RE-SIGNS FOR 2025 NBL1 SOUTH SEASON

The Castec Rural Pioneers are thrilled to announce that the 2023-24 Captain and 2022 Golden Hands award winner Kane deWit has re-signed for the 2025 NBL1 South Season.
deWit who will turn 28 later in December was a National Championship Player with the Castec Rural Pioneers in 2015 and 2017 before leaving Mount Gambier for two seasons.
In four seasons back with the Pioneers deWit has become a vital member of the team and contributed significantly to the team’s success. In 2024 deWit had a solid all-round season averaging 4.21 points per game, 3.50 assists and 3.08 rebounds. His leadership on
and off court has been exemplary.
When asked about what it meant to him to be returning as a Pioneeer, deWit said, “It’s great to be back for another year under Coach Richard Hill and for another successful year in front of our fabulous fans.
I am really looking forward to getting back to Wulanda and getting to work on winning a championship,” deWit said.
Castec Rural Pioneers Head Coach Richard Hill is pleased to have de Wit remaining a Pioneer in 2025.
“Kane is a great example for young Mount Gambier basketballers. Hard work and commitment have seen Kane become an integral part of a very successful Pioneers era and ascend to the captaincy.
A great defender and team first leader his ongoing commitment to our club is huge,” Hill said.
Kane deWit is the son of Pioneer’s legend Ray deWit.
