Newest Sydney Kings recruit and NBL1 North star Kouat Noi joined the Coles Express NBL1 Show on Tuesday night to talk about the signing and his NBL1 North season with USC Rip City.
In his announcement he said he’s ready for the bright lights of Sydney, co-host Peter Hooley asked Noi to elaborate.
“I definitely am built for the bright lights,” he said.
“I can’t wait to get out there to Sydney and just show the world what I’m about. It’s going to be a very exciting and entertaining year for me.”
Noi was asked how Kings championship coach Chase Buford pitched him on signing with the NBL22 championship team.
“He [Buford] really thinks I can deliver more in this league, so he took a chance on me,” he said.
“He’s very excited to have me on board and he just wants to showcase my talent to the world. And I believe I’ll be in the right system and being coached under him.”
After an explosive rookie season, Noi has dealt with two subsequent injury riddled seasons. He spoke about how he’s physically and mentally overcome that to come dominate the NBL1.
“Whatever happens, all the ups and downs I’m still going to prevail and still work hard to come back to my best form. You guys haven't seen nothing yet.”
“When I first came to USC, I had an interview and I told them my intentions for this year. My full intention is to become [NBL1 North] MVP, dominate every game and show everyone I can take over games and score at the highest level.”
When asked about USC’s chances on winning the NBL1 title, Noi was confident in being able to pull off the task.
“I believe we have great leaders on this team,” he said.
“Just going out there and playing hard and playing together. I think we can pull it off, we have the right team too take it all the way and bring a championship to USC.”
