Kubank and Reilly back on board at Pioneers

The Mount Gambier Pioneers have announced the re-signing of Tom Kubank and Shakera Reilly for the 2022 NBL1 South season.

The Mount Gambier Pioneers have announced the re-signing of Tom Kubank and Shakera Reilly for the 2022 NBL1 South season.
Kubank had a solid 2021 season averaging 11.15 points per game with 44.7 percent average from the field and a strong 6.92 rebounds per game.
Pioneers Head Coach Richard Hill was pleased that the Club again had Kubank suiting up for 2022 noting that he was a player that contributed a great deal to the team.
"Tom is a versatile and high energy forward who demonstrated tremendous improvement as one of our most consistent performers last season," he said.
"His speed and athleticism coupled with his ability to consistently knock down the three-point goals makes him a great fit in our system."
Pioneers President, Tom Kosch is very pleased with the progress the Club is making in filling both the men’s and women’s rosters.
"We now have ten players signed for 2022 with discussions continuing with a number of other players," Kosch said.
"This puts us in a much stronger position at this stage of the preparations for the next season than we have been for some years.
"We are confident this will help result in a really successful season in 2022."
Reilly joins 2021 Captain Jasmin Howe, Johanna Jones, Sherrie Calleia and Sophie Miles all having committed to be Pioneers for another year.
Head Coach Matt Sutton can’t wait to get back to work with Reilly.
"It is great to have Shakera recommit for 2022," he said.
"She was our best defensive player last season and brings a lot of versatility to our group at both ends of the court.
"Shak is a natural leader who connects well with her teammates and is loved by our community.
"She sets a great example with her work rate and a no fuss attitude to her hoops."
Averaging almost 34 minutes court time each game in 2021, Reilly contributed 11.53 points per game shooting 35.53% from the field with 5.46 rebounds per game.
