Central Districts edged out Sturt 93-87 on Saturday night at Springbank Secondary College in a tight contest that featured 26 lead changes.
The Lions' balanced attack proved decisive with three players scoring in double figures. Kalani Sapwell led the way with 20 points on efficient 61.5 percent shooting from the field, adding seven assists. Efemena Abogidi recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while the Lions dominated the charity stripe with 32 free throw attempts compared to Sturt's 24. Central Districts also found their range from outside, connecting on seven triples compared to Sturt's four.
Sturt stayed competitive behind Sharif Black's outstanding 33-point performance on 50 percent shooting. Black notched a double-double with 10 rebounds while Sam Daly added 23 points and six assists. The Sabres controlled the paint, outscoring Central Districts 58-42 in that area, but couldn't overcome the Lions' superior outside shooting and free throw advantage.
