The Northern Star Resources Goldfields Giants are excited to announce the re-signing of local player Samuel Morrow ahead of the 2023 NBL1 season.
Morrow, a 180cm guard, is a crafty left hander who can score anywhere on the court and is a fan favourite of the Giants faithful with his scoring and defensive plays.
On the season ahead, the player said he feels good about having a “solid core group for the first time in a while”.
“We all get along really well on and off the court, which gives us good chemistry,” he said.
“It's good with Scotty as the new coach – it's new and fresh and he brings a new perspective to things.
“He is someone who has been around for ages so he kind of knows everyone and knows how things are.”
Head coach Manton said the guard continues to set the bar high in every session.
“He is a player that deserves his opportunity at this level and is a great person for our younger players to lead the way in 2023,” he said.
“He is ready to tackle the season head on and will be one to watch.”
Morrow has risen through the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association junior ranks and has been a part of the Giants since 2019, firstly in the WABL Championship men's team and then into the SBL squad.
“Now that I have been here longer and there are more younger guys coming through, I have to try and develop and be a leader for them and also push the people in front of me,” Morrow said.
“I want to have more of an impact than last year in helping the team win this season and just keep developing myself.”
This will be Morrow’s fifth season in the SBL/NBL1 with the Giants.
