The Logan Thunder have added some serious star power to their women’s and men’s squad for the 2023 NBL1 North season.

They first signed NBL22 champion Shaun Bruce, who last played in the NBL1 with Logan in the 2021 season. Afterwards, they announced that NBL1 North All-Star Five member Mikaela Ruef would be re-signing after a 19-0 regular season with the Thunder.

In his last NBL1 season, Bruce averaged 13 points and 6.7 assists, where he carried that into the NBL22 season as the Sydney Kings were crowned champions.

In NBL23 Bruce has been their key point guard off the bench, while hitting game-winners to sink the hearts of Hawks fans as well.

Bruce re-joins Logan alongside Brisbane Bullet Rasmus Bach for the 2023 men’s squad.

After a colossal season in the NBL1 North, where she led her Thunder to the Grand Final series, Mikaela Ruef is back to try to win it all once again.

Finishing undefeated in the regular season and ending with a 21-2 record, Ruef was out and out one of the stars of the entire NBL1 competition. With an absurd average of 23, 20 rebounds and five assists, Ruef will be a welcome sight for Logan fans once again – and a nightmare for any other NBL1 North fans.

Especially for North Gold Coast Seahawks fans, who last saw Ruef drop 50 points and 25 rebounds in their last match-up.

In the WNBL, Ruef is averaging 9.9 points and 9.1 rebounds for the second on the ladder Townsville Fire, alongside NBL1 North champion Steph Reid.
