The Logan Thunder’s Majok Deng has climbed to the top spot for the NBL1 North MVP according to conference expert Jon Guarna.

After putting up 39 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and a block against the North Gold Coast Seahawks on Saturday, Deng has cemented the Thunder into first place above the stacked squads of the Ipswich Force and the Gold Coast Rollers.

“Round 7 really put a stamp on his contendership (for MVP), it’s Majok Deng from the table leading Logan Thunder,” he said on The NBL1 Show

“After this weekend, he’s gotta be right up there with [Jason] Cadee and Isaac White as an MVP contender.”

It can’t be understated the impact that the two-time NBL champion Shaun Bruce has made as the point guard of the Thunder. Bruce averages 9.1 assists per game for Logan and the team has only lost a single game since his return.

For the season, Deng is averaging 29.8 points per game (third-highest average in NBL1 North), 12.1 rebounds per game (second-highest average) and 1.3 blocks (fourth-highest average).

Catch the Logan Thunder tonight as they take on the Brisbane Capitals from 8:00pm AEST live via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App here
