NBL1 South star Mangok Mathiang has signed a deal with the NBL’s Illawarra Hawks for the 2022/2023 season.
Mathiang has had multiple injuries that have setback his career significantly. He broke his tibia and fibula in 2020 and finally made his return to the court with the Casey Cavaliers this season in May.
He averaged 18 points and 8.5 rebounds in his NBL1 season and this pathway has shown he is healthy and ready to make the step into the NBL.
Mathiang is a former NBA player, playing four games for the Charlotte Hornets and has played overseas in Italy, Slovenia and Turkey.
He joins six other NBL1 players on the Hawks roster with Lachlan Dent (Brisbane Capitals), Sam Froling (Townsville Heat), Alex Mudronja (North Gold Coast), Akoldah Gak (Illawarra Hawks), Wani Swaka Lo Buluk (USC Rip City) and Deng Deng (Kilsyth Cobras) on the Illawarra Hawks 2022/23 roster.
