Marty Zeller signed as Lightning Womens' NBL1 Head Coach

Over the past 5 months Lakeside has undertaken a search for a new Women’s NBL1 Head Coach.

Understanding this is a significant position within the Lightning community we wanted to ensure we found someone who would not only bring a high level of Basketball Coaching expertise, but also be a person that would be a great fit for the culture of who we are as a Community.

We are excited to announce the appointment of Coach Marty Zeller to the role of Lakeside Lightning Women’s Head Coach.

Coach Marty comes with a wealth of basketball expertise, and we are anticipating he will have a great impact on our Women’s program. Coach Marty has coached in professional leagues in Finland, Lebanon, Dubai, Germany, Norway and New Mexico.

During the NBA Lock Out Season, Marty coached against the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets while oversees.

This will not be Coach Marty’s first time in Perth. He actually played SBL here and coached a number of years ago.

Most recently Coach Marty has achieved 5 out of 7 State Championships in New Mexico and has won five coach of the year awards. Including USA Today’s NM Coach of the Year.

Marty brings a lot of experience to the table and has a big enthusiasm for defence and tempo!

Marty joins us with his wife. We hope to have Marty arrive here at Lakeside by January, with his wife to join later in 2024. Please make them feel welcome.
