Melbourne Tigers sign athletic forward Josh Sykes

The Melbourne Tigers have announced the signing of athletic forward Josh Sykes for the NBL1 South 2026 campaign.

Standing at 6’7, Sykes brings length, explosiveness and highlight-reel capability to the Tigers’ frontcourt. After three seasons with Eltham, he returns to familiar territory in NBL1 South, having played a key role in the Wildcats’ 2024 Championship run.

Sykes is widely known for his dynamic style of play, particularly his above-the-rim finishing, ability to change momentum and strong defensive presence. In 2025 he delivered a strong season, averaging 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks on 63% shooting, showcasing his impact at both ends of the floor.

Off the court, Sykes has built a strong reputation for community engagement and connection with fans, contributing regularly to junior programs, holiday camps and development sessions.

Sykes said he is looking forward to joining the Tigers ahead of the new season.

Knowing a few guys will help me fit in with the culture and that alone will bring excitement to the games and the crowd will love energy on the floor.
