Geelong United have secured a major piece of their backcourt for the NBL1 South 2026 season, with Jaz Shelley re-signing following an outstanding past season.
Shelley was one of the competition’s standout performers in 2025, earning NBL1 South MVP honours after averaging 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 3.5 steals per game for Geelong United. Her combination of leadership, consistency, court vision and relentless two-way impact set the benchmark across the league.
Currently a co-captain with the Geelong Venom in the WNBL, Shelley is continuing to make her mark at the national level, averaging 13 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds per game, while leading the league with 2.39 steals per contest.
Heading into her second season with Geelong United, Shelley returns off the back of two WNBL seasons in Geelong, bringing elite experience, versatility and composure to United’s backcourt. Renowned for her long-range shooting and ability to deliver in big moments, she has repeatedly proven herself as a game-changer when it matters most.
Her impact extends well beyond the hardwood. Shelley has embedded herself in the Geelong community, inspiring young athletes and contributing as a coach with the club’s U14.1 girls VJBL program, embodying the values and culture Geelong United continues to build.
“I’m excited to have re-signed with Geelong — I genuinely love living here and can’t wait to see what’s ahead for the 2026 season,” Shelley said.
The NBL1 South 2026 season tips off on Friday 27th March 2026. For all the latest updates, including player signings, coaching appointments and league news, make sure you’re following NBL1 South on Facebook and Instagram.
