Townsville has secured a quartet of important signatures, with DeAndre Daniels, Chris Kann, Harriet Carey and Lauren Andrews committing to the club.
Daniels last played in Australia when he was part of the Perth Wildcats in 2014/2015.
He averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game while fresh out of college.
Daniels was drafted to the NBA by the Toronto Raptors after winning an NCAA Championship with the Connecticut Huskies and has played professionally in the United States, Italy, Finland and spent last winter in the New Zealand NBL.
"When DeAndre was presented to us the timing was very fortunate as we were about to sign another player in his spot," Townsville Heat Head Coach Mark Wrobel said.
"On reviewing DeAndre’s resume and film we immediately switched our focus and the rest is history.
"His overall experience is exceptional and the performance he put up in our NBL with Perth and in the New Zealand NBL with Manawatu convinced us that he was our man.
"We quickly jumped on the phone to do some reference checks on him as a person and discovered that he will be a great player fit for us on the court and will be exceptional for our team culture."
Daniels and his family will make their way to Townsville around the middle of March allowing him the opportunity to get a good pre-season in with the team before their April 29th season start date.
He jumped at the opportunity to get back to Australia when the opportunity came up.
"I’m very excited for the opportunity to play in the NBL1," Daniels said.
"I’m so happy to get out there and keep playing basketball and to be in Australia again.
"I didn’t really think I would get the opportunity to be in Australia again any time soon, so it's really nice to get the opportunity to go back there and also bring my family with me so they get to experience being in Australia too.
"I’m just so excited to get out there and play basketball again."
A particular highlight for Daniels is the ability to bring his family to Australia and have his son Damian get the opportunity to watch him play.
"It’s pretty cool that he is going to get to see me play basketball in Australia too so I am pretty excited for that," he said.
Carey will again suit up for the Flames in NBL1 North.
She will return from Canada at the end of the Windsor season and jump straight back into the action at The Furnace.
Kann will be returning for his fourth season with the Heat.
He adds valuable experience to Townsville's backcourt and is primed for his best season yet in Heat colours.
Andrews is back in the blue and gold after a great 2021 season.
She was a solid contributor to the team's success in a top-four finish last year and is ready to take it up a gear at Star FM Stadium this year.
