Current Illawarra Hawk and NBL champion Biwali Bayles will return home to his junior club, the Sydney Comets, in the NBL1 East for the 2024 season.
After spending the past two seasons in the NBL1 North with the Mackay Meteors and most recently the North Gold Coast Seahawks, Bayles will return to NSW and play with his junior club.

Last season the 22-year-old star in the making averaged 17 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the Seahawks.
Comets CEO and fellow former King Ben Madgen said bringing back Bayles was their top priority.
“Bringing Biwali back to the Sydney Comets for the upcoming season was our top priority,” he said via the Comets social media.
“Biwali is not only one of the best players in the country, he is an outstanding role model for our community. Biwali is a shining example of how a Comets junior can make it to the top league in Australia. We can’t wait to watch the positive impact Biwali will have on and off the court.”
Bayles will follow current Illawarra Hawks assistant coach Lachie Lonergan to the Comets, stating he cannot wait to return home and play with his current coach.
“I’m so happy to come home to where it all began. Humble beginnings is everything to me and having the opportunity to come home and play for Lachie Lonergan, who has known me since a young age just adds to it,” he said.
“I’m excited to see what’s in store for the upcoming ‘24 season and continue to develop on my game.”
