The Mitsubishi Motors NBL’s annual First Nations Round will return this weekend, celebrating the rich history and culture of First Nations communities.

The round will commence on Friday, July 4, and finish on Wednesday, July 9, with games running through NAIDOC Week, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025.

First Nations community members are well-represented across the country in NBL1, including players, coaches, referees, technical officials, and volunteers. First Nations Round is a chance for us to acknowledge and celebrate these individuals for their invaluable contributions to the competition.

The theme for NAIDOC Week in 2025 is The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy. You can read more about NAIDOC Week and this year’s theme here.

“First Nations Round and NAIDOC Week are important chances for us to acknowledge and celebrate the rich history of our First Nations communities and peoples,” NBL1 General Manager Dean Anglin said.

“We are very lucky to have so many hard-working and talented individuals in NBL1 from these communities, and this week we will celebrate their contributions and the impact they have had on the competition.”

The action kicks off on Friday night at 6pm AEST when the Hobart Chargers take on the Mt Gambier Pioneers.

All games will be streamed live and free on NBL1.com.au and the NBL1 App, while the Games of the Week will be available on Kayo Freebies.
