NBL1 Central Clubs Continue 2021 Preparations

Round nine of the Adelaide Basketball Challenge (ABC) wrapped up on Tuesday night as NBL1 Central teams continue preparing for next season.

With clubs using the ABC to have an extended look at youngsters, players on the brink of NBL1, imports and more, here are some of the standout performers from round nine of the competition.

WOMEN

Olivia Thompson – South Adelaide Panthers

Thompson’s strong campaign continued this week as she led the Panthers with 28 points in a win over the North Adelaide Rockets.

Mollie McKendrick – South Adelaide Panthers 

McKendrick was just as important in South Adelaide’s victory with 26 points.

Taylor Ortlepp – North Adelaide Rockets 

In one of her best games this season, Ortlepp amassed 18 points.

Alex Pearce – West Adelaide Bearcats

The Bearcats recorded a massive win over the Woodville Warriors and Pearce led the way with 17 points.

Keeley Pearce – West Adelaide Bearcats

The Warriors’ defence must have been seeing double this week, as Pearce also added 17 points.

Katherine Perkas – Woodville Warriors

Perkas led the way in a tough night for Woodville with 17 points.  

Genna Anderson – Norwood Flames

Trying to break into NBL1 next year, Anderson had a massive performance with 39 points on Tuesday night.

Izzy Borlase – Forestville Eagles

Borlase continued her consistent campaign this week with 20 points.

Jordana Vidmar – Forestville Eagles

Vidmar had an impressive game against Norwood, tallying 18 points.

Nicola Mathews – Sturt Sabres 

Mathews posted 15 points for Sturt on Tuesday night.

Zoe Walker-Roberts – Sturt Sabres 

Another Sabre who recorded 15 points this week was Walker-Roberts.

MEN

Daniel Webber – Norwood Flames

Webber led the way in Norwood’s win on Tuesday night with 18 points.

Harrison Luna – Norwood Flames

Luna also had an impressive performance for the Flames with 17 points.

Malith Machar – Forestville Eagles

Despite Forestville’s loss to Norwood, Machar turned heads with a 31-point effort.

Greg Mays – Forestville Eagles 

The Eagles’ other team playing in the ABC defeated the Sabres on Tuesday night, with Mays posting 18 points in the win.

Jake Rios – Forestville Eagles

Another Forestville player who scored 18 points in the victory was Rios.

Kane De Wit – Forestville Eagles

De Wit was a key contributor in the win with 17 points.

Michael Harris – Forestville Eagles

The former Adelaide 36ers DP added 17 points for the Eagles on Tuesday night.

Tom Kubank – Sturt Sabres 

Kubank was Sturt’s best this week with 23 points.

Daniel Nash – Sturt Sabres

Nash was also a solid contributor for the Sabres this week with 17 points.

Nicholas Fassos – Sturt Sabres

Fassos was the standout player on Sturt’s other team this week with 20 points.

Jack Turnbull – Sturt Sabres

Turnbull added 17 points for the Sabres on Tuesday night.

Isaiah Omamogho – South Adelaide Panthers 

South Adelaide had a big win over North Adelaide and Omamogho led the way for the victors with 19 points.

Alex Starling – South Adelaide Panthers

Starling had a steady performance for the Panthers with 16 points.

Tobias Dowdell – North Adelaide Rockets 

Dowdell was North Adelaide’s leading scorer this week with 24 points.

Nick Marshall – North Adelaide Rockets 

After a big performance last week, Marshall stayed hot on Tuesday night with 22 points.

Lachlan Hunter – West Adelaide Bearcats

The Bearcats were led by Hunter’s 23 points in their win over Woodville.

Apiok Dau – Central District Lions

Dau amassed 21 points for the Lions in round nine.
