Rockets sound alarm as Sixers split Panthers
A 26-8 start led by incoming Adelaide 36er Jack McVeigh setup the North Adelaide Rockets who took the season split 86-62 against the South Adelaide Panthers at the Launch Pad. McVeigh dropped 17 of his 22 points in the first half along with 11 rebounds along with fellow Sixer Sunday Dech nearly notching a double double on his first run for the Rockets with 14 points and 9 assists. However, the real winner out of the night was a very Verley special Verle Williams with 19 points at 60 percent including a buzzer beating bank triple on three quarter time. The Panthers were led by a Sixer of their own in Alex Mudronja who did his chances of getting another NBL contract no harm with 19 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds while Alex Starling produced another good game against his former side with 10 points and 18 rebounds.
Flames fan off Warriors to take home win
A late surge from the Woodville Warriors was fanned off by the Norwood Flames as they levelled 5-5 for the season in a tight contest 87-84 at the Firedome. In an extremely statistically even game, CJ Turnage dropped 20 points along with fellow import Anthony Green (16 points and 10 rebounds) and a spark off the pine from Moses Nuangki (17 points). The Warriors had an array of even contributors with Julian Jacobs (17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists), Joe Jackson (16 points, 11 rebounds), James Boonstoppel (16 points) and Luke Stanbridge (18 points).
Tigers tear Sabres streak apart
The Southern Tigers have upset the Sturt Sabres stopping their streak at nine in a row as they tore their way to a 64-93 victory at the Cave. Five Tigers registered double figures led by Cameron Coleman (18 points, 6 assists and rebounds), Christian Artacho (19 points, 5 rebounds), Koop McCalop (15 points, 9 rebounds), Nick Wurm (15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists) and Machar Machar (13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists). The Sabres struggled to find scorers with Tom Goodall the best with 13 points and 7 rebounds as the Tigers defence dented the Sabres offensive output.
Eagles fly back to second after swooping Mavs
The Forestville Eagles have flown back up to second as the consigned the Eastern Mavericks to another loss with their 71-106 clinic at the Shooting Gallery. The Eagles had seven players score 9 or more in the contest led by a double double from Brandon Brine with 17 points and 14 rebounds and 17 points at 66.7 percent from Greg Mays. Will Wise the third finished with 24 points and 16 rebounds to be the best again for the Mavs with Callum Prider continuing a recent run of form with 11 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
Lions lock down Bearcats to grab important home win
A 26-2 run to open the first quarter setup the Central District Lions as they grabbed an important home win and put themselves back in the mix at 4-6 with an 88-76 win over the West Adelaide Bearcats at their home of the Den. David Humphries rained in 24 of his 31 points in first half including 5-7 from beyond the arc along with 9 rebounds with Shaq Maharaj (16 points and 5 rebounds) and Magok Manyang (16 points and 9 rebounds) setting up the crucial home win for the Lions. Earnest Ross with best the whole night with 19 points and 5 rebounds with Fabian Johnson leading a comeback in second half with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
