Sabres six in a row as Spear puts dagger through Eagles
The Sturt Sabres have won their sixth game in a row and remain undefeated as they outlasted the Forestville Eagles 91-96 in a high scoring thriller at the Nest. The damage was done mainly in the first half by Joel Spear with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists and Sam Daly with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists before big last quarters from young gun Keanu “Reeves” Rasmussen (14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists) and Tom Goodall (14 points and 6 rebounds) clipped the Eagles wings. Michael Harris started on fire for the Eagles soaring to a 19 point opening quarter but finished with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists while Brandon Brine notched a huge double double of 14 points and 15 rebounds including one of the dunks of the season so far. Isaac Atuer exploded in the third to finish with 15 points and 5 assists with Greg Mays solid but largely quelled most of the night with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Tiger Cam turns lights out for Flames
The Southern Tigers main man import Cameron Coleman stopped the Norwood Flames winning streak at two as they held their form a the Cage 89-82. Coleman had a huge double double with 28 points and 11 rebounds with fellow front court man Koop McCalop also with a double double of 19 points and 16 rebounds. Import duo CJ Turnage and Anthony Green were the best for the Flames continuing recent hot form for the star duo.
Super Starling sneaks Panthers home in thriller
The South Adelaide Panthers have one superstar to thank after a ginormous output as they snuck home 86-90 to win their fourth game of the season and second in a row on the road over the Woodville Warriors at the Castle. It was Alex Starling with 37 points at 52 percent and a staggering 20 rebound laden double double with 7 steals to lead a dynamic performance along with Todd Davies (19 points and 5 assists) and a resurgent Jarryd Hoppo (15 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists). James “Boontown” Boonstoppel was big for the Warriors with 23 points at 63 percent with 5 triples from 7, 9 rebounds and 6 assists along with Julian Jacobs once again with a double double of 15 points, 12 assists and 6 rebounds. Last weeks hero Luke Stanbridge heated up again with 19 points and Joe Jackson as well was effective with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
Bearcat bandits shootdown Mavericks
The West Adelaide Bearcats big three got the job done in a convincing 110-69 win at the Bearcat Cave against the Eastern Mavericks. The three all got twenties with Bryan Michaels (24 points, 4 assists), Earnest Ross with a triple double of 22 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists and Fabian Johnson (20 points) all had incredible nights at the office. 19-year-old Tom Glover returned for the Mavs with a 19 point and 3 rebound night to lead the way for his team in a night with few winners for the away side.
Big Purchase pays off for Rockets but Lions leap in OT claims thriller
It was on the cards the North Adelaide Rockets had been doing some shopping this week and nailed a big “Purchase” but it was the Central District Lions that ended up claiming a thrilling overtime win 94-98 at the Launch Pad. Magok Manyang’s missed right on the precipice after Verle Williams (22 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds) converted his two free throws to level the scores. The overtime ebbed and flowed but with his biggest game of the season Shaquille Maharaj (30 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists) gave the Lions the go ahead bucket with less than a minute to play before Williams hit back for North, then Lual Diing (A humdinger of a game 25 points and 24 rebounds) pushed the Lions back ahead by 3 points. It eventually came down to Williams triple which missed to cut it back to one and the Lions had claimed the come from behind win. The Lions got plenty of production from David Humphries with a near double double of 20 points and 9 rebounds while for the Rockets in his debut game, Adelaide 36ers recruit Jack Purchase dominated with 29 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks.
