Almighty Olivia and Otto guide Mavericks to first win

It took the almighty efforts of Olivia Bradley and Jannon Otto to guide the Mavericks to their first win of season 2023 with a tight 86-82 win over the Central District Lions at St Francis in Mt Barker. Otto had a mammoth 27 point and 16 rebound double double but it was Australian junior representative Bradley who went close to a triple double with 24 points, eight assists and rebounds. Tiahna Sears kept the Lions in the contest with 29 points and eight rebounds as did Jaedyn De La Cerda with 23 points and seven assists.  

Bearcats Coleman cools off fierce Forestville in OT

It took Adelaide Lightning rookie Molly Coleman to cool off another opponent once again looking for the upset in her West Adelaide Bearcats 81-80 win in overtime over the Forestville Eagles at the Bearcat Cave in Port Adelaide.

Coleman compiled 21 points and 14 rebounds in 41 minutes of play after Jess Simons made this ice cool make to setup the four-point play – her captain Rachel Hines the best with 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles also helping send it to overtime.

Rockets Basham ruins Panther pushback to climb ladder  

Adelaide Lightning’s Brooke Basham lit up again for the North Adelaide Rockets with a strong 31 points at 78 percent with four triples, assists, steals and three rebounds in her sides upset 76-82 win over the South Adelaide Panthers at the Jungle in Mitchell Park. Lauren Mansfield also grabbed 19 points and four assists with former Rocket Sam DeFrancesco leading the Panthers with 14 points off the bench at 50 percent for the home side.    

Lean no more Legan gifts Mavs second win of season over Lions

After a lean start to the season James Legan has officially fired back as he helped the Mavs to their 96-73 second win of the season equalling their previous three seasons record. Legan launched for 30 points at 75 percent including six triples plus collected seven rebounds and along with import Jack Hemphill (24 points, eight rebounds and four assists) helped overcome Branden Jenkins 27 points and five rebound effort of the Lions.  

Riley rampant repeat leads to upset of champions

North Adelaide Rockets Riley Harrap repeated his efforts to ramp up 26 points at 57 percent along with four assists and steals to help upset the South Adelaide Panthers 73-77 at the Jungle. Akech Aliir was also dominant with 15 points and 11 rebounds in overcoming the Panthers stung by the absence of Jarryd Hoppo and Alex Starling - Lloyd McVeigh led the way for the homeside with 22 points and four rebounds.

Special Js find way home for Warriors

It took two special Js in Jawan Stepney and Joe Jackson to help the Warriors storm back from a final quarter deficit of 13 points to win a thriller 73-71 over the Norwood Flames at the Castle of St Clair. Stepney stepped up for 21 points and five rebounds including the lead taking free throws while Joe Jackson’s 14 points and six rebounds was more impactful than the numbers suggested. Jack Stanwix dropped 19 points while also having a shot to win the game in what also marked the return of Trey McBride to Flames colours.
