Yaeger lands bombs from deep in first half for Tigers

If there was any indication Morgan Yaeger is still coming off injury after her WNBL season – they’ve been well and truly shaken with 25 first half points including eight of ten triples to setup the Tigers win over the fast-finishing Eastern Mavericks 79-68. Yaeger finished with 27 points and eight rebounds, but her Tigers were chased down hard by the Peyton Taylor led Mavs with 16 points and five rebounds in the last quarter comeback.  

Freer by desire flies Eagles over resurgent Rockets

Hot favourite early for the Merv Harris Youth medal Maddy Freer flew the Eagles to a second half attack with her 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists in her sides 67-77 win over the North Adelaide Rockets at the Lights. Brooke Basham paced the Rockets throughout the afternoon with 30 points (including 23 in the first half to get the Rockets back on even terms at the half), 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Fransson final force pushes Warriors over Lions   

Woodville Warriors import centre Nicole Fransson notched up some big numbers in the final term and by the final buzzer to push the Warriors over the Central District Lions 71-80 at the Den. Fransson forced her way to 28 points including 12 final term points and 17 rebounds holding off a second half scoring blitz from the Lions Jaedyn De La Cerda with 26 points (22 in the second half), eight assists and six rebounds.

Sabres soar to fifth straight through Forbes

Import Jordan Forbes has done it again producing an enormous triple double to help his Sturt Sabres win their fifth in a row in their upset 59-87 at the Jungle. Forbes flew for 30 points with six of nine beyond the arc, 11 assists and rebounds in his second triple double and the league’s fourth of the season. Daniel Johnson was vintage for the homeside with his own double double of 33 points and 10 rebounds who struggled to find other winners with the Sabres having six players score seven or more.    

Aliir awesome as Rockets upset Eagles

Akech Aliir sealed a superb weekend for the North Adelaide Rockets helping down their second straight top three team of the weekend in the Forestville Eagles 102-97 at the Lights. Aliir was awesome dropping 27 points and 11 rebounds and along with Riley Harrap again (26 points, five rebounds and four assists) and Durrell McDonald (20 points, seven assists and five rebounds) undid the Eagles. Greg Mays was outstanding for the aways side with 24 points and 11 rebounds with both him, Adam Doyle (19 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds) and Malith Machar (20 points and 10 rebounds) double doubling.

  

Beyond the perimeter-lands Lions land over Warriors

Led by import Kevin Baker and Ngor Nai – the Central District Lions opened up the contest against the Woodville Warriors to end up winning their second game of the season 103-84 at the Den. Baker finished with 24 points with four triples at 57 percent to go with six rebounds and five assists – while Nai notched up 19 points with five triples at 62.5 percent accompanied by 12 rebounds and two huge blocks. The Warriors Joe Jackson continued a solid comeback weekend for him with 20 points and eight rebounds.
