NBL1 Central Recap | Men's Round 13

South Adelaide Panthers vs West Adelaide Bearcats      

Dialled in Davies Panthers dent Bearcats

The third quarter of Todd Davies and the Panthers secured an important win for the homeside over the Bearcats 87-67 at the Jungle. The 30-16 quarter blew the game open with Davies swishing 4 of 5 beyond the arc to finish with 21 points on 7 of 10 coupled with Jeremy Smith’s 11 points to finish with 26 points and 8 rebounds. The Panthers created plenty of second chance points with 14-5 created by Alex Starling who threw down a thunderous jam and Smith. The Bearcats had two standouts with Nik DeSantis dropping 23 points and 6 rebounds and Nate Sheppard with 21 points 6 rebounds including his own dunk of the week contender but no one else reached close to double figures for the away side.

 

Southern Tigers vs Norwood Flames

Tiger time for Machar and Olbrich obliterates Flames 

The Tigers ticked off a big scalp in season 2022 as they turned it on in the third for an 88-60 win at the Cage over the Flames. It was two young guns in Machar Machar and Lachy Olbrich who dropped 16 between them to give the Tigers a 27-13 third quarter that extinguished the Flames. Olbrich finished a very even performance from the Tigers with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Ricardo Martin led from the front for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. For the Flames Trey McBride was best with 18 points in a night of struggle for a team on fire before its last two losses.

 

Sturt Sabres vs North Adelaide Rockets

Rockets rally to Winn over Sabres 

Despite a late run in the last few minutes, the Rockets have rallied to keep their season alive with a riveting 85-90 win over the Sabres at the Cave. Terry Winn led the Rockets to a 21-35 second quarter to finish with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals before Joel Spear (24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists) led the Sabres back with a 24-16 third quarter to close the gap 68-71. Jamar Akoh for the Rockets was a big factor in the final quarter to finish with 17 points and 11 rebounds including 7 offensive in one of his best outings of the season while Jacob Rigoni for the homeside was the other support for Sturt with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

 

Eastern Mavericks vs Woodville Warriors  

Wurm’s the word as Warriors win twelfth on trot     

As expected, the Mavericks hung around and made things difficult but the Warriors were two strong as they won their twelfth on the trot 83-100 at the Shooting Gallery. Nick Wurm led from the front with 23 points including 7 triples at 70 percent from beyond and 5 rebounds to setup the win for the away side. Other winners were David Humphries with 23 points and Joe Jackson with 13 points who had an enthralling battle with Dimakopoulos of the Mavs (12 points and 15 rebounds). James Legan with 16 points and Koop McCalop 23 points and 9 rebounds kept things interesting for the home-side.
