Round 11 now sees a split of six teams from the rest as the Eagles shutdown the Sabres, Wilson scored the first triple double of the season to give the Flames three in a row, the Panthers plunge the Mavs into deeper misery, Madelynn is massive for the Bearcats and the Lions win their second game of the season. Forestville Eagles vs Sturt Sabres

Eagles shutdown Sabres but Sturt secure split

The Eagles got the crucial win, sit inside the five but just missed the split by a bucket as they posted an impressive 69-61 win against the Sturt Sabres at the Nest. The Sabres were stung in the second quarter by the Eagles with 10 points to Sam Simons as she led a 8-2 points in the paint quarter for the 28-12 quarter and a halftime lead of 45-30. The Eagles were never headed but the Sabres spared themselves the split by 3 points to win their season series. Simons finished with 24 points including 3-3 beyond the arc, 7 assists and 6 rebounds and was well supported by Rachel Hines with 13 points and 6 rebounds before she fouled out in the fourth. Bella Stratford was instrumental in the second half with 8 points and 8 rebounds with 4 offensive while Maddy Freer reeled in 14 rebounds. Mikayla Williams grinded her way to 16 points and 11 rebounds but was held to 19 percent from the field in a solid defensive matchup for the home side and Jasmin Rigoni nailed four triples for 12 points.

 

South Adelaide Panthers vs Eastern Mavericks

Panthers plunge depleted Mavs into misery  

The South Adelaide Panthers dominated from the tip as they roared over the depleted Eastern Mavericks 84-40 to score their first win at the Jungle. It was a crushing first half as they led 45-16 at half-time off the back of 15 points from turnover and 8 points off the fast break. They also had a 16-2 start in the first quarter led by Isa Osk Sigurdardottir (13 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals) and Jordan Hunter (13 points, 9 assists and 5 steals) and as a team forced 24 turnovers from 16 steals. Jade Johnson led all with 21 points and 5 assists while the Mavs had just one player reach double figures in Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu with 10 points and 6 rebounds while Oksana Gouchie-Provencher collected 8 points and 13 rebounds.         

 

Woodville Warriors vs Central District Lions

Washington rises Lions to second win over Warriors 

The Lions have risen to their second win of the season casting off the Warriors 54-85 at the Castle. After a tight opening quarter the Lions took control through 20 points in three quarters from import guard Raynisha Washington to finish with 26 points and 13 rebounds. The Lions shot 47 percent across the game from the field and 17-6 in second chance points to grab their opportunities when it counted. Casey Samuels came up big as well with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Meaza Otto had arguably her best game of the season with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Winners for the Warriors were last week’s player of the week Katherine Perkas with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Emily Winter with 14 points. The Warriors in seventh now fall three games behind the Tigers in sixth.

 

Southern Tigers vs West Adelaide Bearcats (Kayo Game of the Week)

Massive haul from Madelynn heaves Bearcats to seventh on the trot

Import Madelyn Utti had a massive haul as she heaved the Bearcats to their seventh win in a row 70-83 against the Southern Tigers at the Cage. Utti amassed 18 points and 22 rebounds in a dominant performance with the Tigers again missing Morgan Yaeger. Jasmin Fejo also led from the front with 16 points, 5 assists and rebounds as did Jasmine Simmons with a career high 16 points and 7 rebounds. McKendrick stepped up in Yaeger’s absence again with 18 points and 7 rebounds as well as Jaeydn De La Cerda with 17 points. The win heaved the Bearcats up to equal top of the table with the Panthers and Sabres.

      

North Adelaide Rockets vs Norwood Flames

Wilson triple double fires Flames over Rockets

A first triple double in the NBL1 Central Womens was recorded by Ally Wilson as she fired the Flames to their third win in a row 56-85 over the North Adelaide Rockets at the Launch Pad. Wilson wrapped up 14 points, 15 assists and 13 rebounds and nearly completed a quadruple double with 9 steals as well and along a season high 31 points to partner in crime Brooke Basham destroyed the home side. Molly Coleman also lit up after her second half last week with 18 points and 7 rebounds to rub more salt into the wounds of the red and white. Peyton Taylor dropped 14 points for the home side and Tayla Corrigan 10 points and 7 rebounds with plenty of the Rockets bench seeing significant court time.
