Round 2 of NBL1 Central saw three huge import performances that stole the highlights in the women’s and some aerial work from a saintly Sabre – and a former Flame cooking from beyond the arc in the mens.

Canadian Fransson thrills for Warriors first win  

Canadian centre Nicole Fransson turned it on for the Warriors with an imposing 30 points and 15 rebound display for her Woodville team’s win 88-80 over the Central District Lions at the castle of St Clair. Captain Katherine Perkas also went near a triple double with 19 points, eight assists and rebounds. For the Lions Tiahna Sears scoreless in the first quarter finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

Woman called Otto gives Mavs huge haul, Martin sparkles on debut in Tigers win

Jannon Otto got her first real run at it in NBL1-23 with a huge 23 points and 14 rebounds in 37 quality minutes – but to add to impressive new imports, Mariah Martin on debut for the Tigers sparked with 22 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the Tigers first win of the year 58-74. Mollie McKendrick barely missed a triple double yet again with 19 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists.   

Keanu the one is back for the Sabres

Keanu Rasmussen back from college with California Baptist Lancers in the states made an instant statement on return with this ferocious throwdown for the Sturt Sabres in his sides loss to the South Adelaide Panthers 64-76.   

Janssan explodes from outside to separate Warriors from Lions

New recruit for the Warriors in Ben Janssan drained a brace of triples from outside the arc to help his Warriors to a scrappy 80-69 over the Central District Lions. Branden Jenkins kept the Lions in the contest with a 30-point haul including some hits from outside of his own.
