Hunter locks in to stave off Mavs
A five-minute patch of defence and brilliant offensive play from Jordan Hunter setup the South Adelaide Panthers important win over the inform Eastern Mavericks 79-66 at the Jungle. Hunter finished with 13 points and 5 assists, but her influence saw the Panthers slam on a 26-11 run across the second half to finally breakaway from the Mavericks. Ash “Splash” Spencer (19 points, 5 assists) and the return of Teresa McGreehan (13 points with three triples, 5 rebounds) anchored the home side the whole night while made to work for everything Olivia Thompson finished with 11 points and 17 rebounds. Mollie McKendrick was the most consistent all night with a massive double double of 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals along with Rachel Hines (17 points, 7 rebounds) and a blitzing first half from Taylor Moffatt (17 points with 4-4 from beyond the arc in the first half).
Flames burn stuns home Eagles
The Norwood Flames continue to gain momentum as they burnt the home Forestville Eagles at the nest 56-64. Wilson continued a rich vein of recent form with a gigantic 26 point, 15 rebound and 5 assist performance backed up by the experienced Genna Anderson with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Wilson’s Adelaide Lightning team-mate Brooke Basham poured in 27 points and 6 rebounds with Sam Simons quelled for the night as the Flames held the Eagles to 28 percent from the field.
Tigers Eleventh elevates them to outright first
The Southern Tigers remain the only team undefeated in NBL1 Central season 2021 after rolling into the Bearcat Cave and coming away with the win against the West Adelaide Bearcats 64-77. Teige Morrell was huge again with 26 points and 8 rebounds along with Morgan Yaeger with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Jennie Rintala was the best for the home side with 19 points and 7 rebounds along with a getting back to form fast Jasmin Fejo with 17 points and 4 rebounds.
Clinical Sabres close off Lions early
It took a 27-8 start to set the tone as the Sturt Sabres bounced back with a 105-35 win over the Central District Lions at the Cave. Jade Johnson found the space she has been not afforded as she dropped 30 points (that is 73 accumulative in two games against the Lions) including 9-13 from beyond the arc with 4 rebounds and assists. 20-year-old Jasmine Rigoni made the most of her opportunities for the night with 16 points and 3 assists and along with Kayla Mathews (16 points) were four Sabres in double figures. April Rummery-Lamb notched a double double to lead the Lions for the match with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
DeFrancesco destroys Warriors hopes in second
Another lights out shooting spree from co-skipper Sam Defrancesco has seen the North Adelaide Rockets win their fourth in a row 70-96 at the Castle against the Woodville Warriors. The Guard/Forward had 25 points including 6 triples, 6 rebound and 3 assists and setup a 18-30 second quarter. Jess Good doubled up big again with 17 points and 16 rebound along with Taylor Ortlepp who dropped 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Emily Winter broke her shackles for the Warriors with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and steals to lead the home side.
