Twelve and Zero Tigers hold off transition Panthers by Twelve
The South Adelaide Panthers threw everything at the undefeated Southern Tigers but the home side prevailed to win their second Southern Showdown of the season 71-59 at the Cage. The Panthers threw transition offence at the Tigers after half-time after giving up a 22-11 start to the Tigers led by Teige Morrell (26 points at 71 percent, 13 rebounds, 3 assists) and Morgan Yaeger (23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists). For the Panthers Olivia Thompson was solid the whole night despite the doubling with a double double of 12 points and 14 rebounds but it was Ash “Splash” Spencer (17 points and 6 rebounds) and Hannah Stewart (15 points at 62 percent, 4 steals, 3 assists and rebounds) that helped the away side reel back in the margin.
Sister Act Mathews master Mavs
The Mathews Sisters have guided the Sturt Sabres to their tenth win with a 60-74 victory over the Eastern Mavericks at the Shooting Gallery. The Mavs were right in the contest to the last five minutes before both Kayla (23 points at 64 percent, 6 rebounds and 4 assists) and Nicola (18 points, 6 steals and assists and 5 rebounds) set up a 4-18 run to close out the contest. Rachel Hines for the Mavs showed her range with 24 points in the match including 4 of 6 from beyond the arc along with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and steals with Mollie McKendrick again touching triple double territory with 9 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists.
Winter’s second storms Lions
11 points in an 8-34 second quarter from star forward/centre Emily Winter has seen the Warriors grab their second win of a tough season over fellow lower end of the table Central District Lions 55-87 at the Den. Winter compiled 31 points, 15 rebounds and 8 steals to nearly pinch a triple double with Deanna Troia (14 points and 9 rebounds), Serena Waters (11 points, 6 rebounds and steals and 3 assists) and Molly Whitmore (13 points and 5 rebounds) notching double figures for the Warriors. The Lions had a solid game from Samantha Kennett who stood up in the absence of Rummary-Lamb with 14 points at 85.71 percent and 8 rebounds.
Triple Sam Show flies Eagles back into fourth
A triple double from Adelaide Lightning signing Sam Simons saw the Eagles fly their way back up to fourth as they edged ahead of their fifth placed opponent the North Adelaide Rockets 68-76 at the Launch Pad. Simons put together 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in an outstanding performance along with a shooting blitz from Brooke Basham with 26 points and 5 rebounds and a double double to Cara Annetts (14 points and 13 rebounds). Jess Good was again the best for the Rockets with a monster 17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks and was well back ed up by the shooting of Sam Defrancesco (24 points including 5 of 11 triples) and Taylor Ortlepp (16 points, 7 rebounds and assists)
