McGreehan avalanche avails Fejo led Bearcats

The West Adelaide Bearcats despite leading at half-time by 9 points were overcome by a flood of triples from Teresa McGreehan (23 points, 6 of 10 triples) as the South Adelaide Panthers eventually won 83-72 at Michael Ah Matt Court in Marion. The Bearcats got off to a fast start fittingly through indigenous young gun Jasmin Fejo (27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists) with 12 first half points before Hannah Stewart from the Panthers took the game by flight with 7 consecutive points for her side. It was McGreehan who hit some big triples in the final stanza to stave off the Bearcats. Olivia Thompson was big for the Panthers as she finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds along with Jennie Rintala for the Bearcats with 22 points and 10 rebounds.   

Simons scythes Eagles to fourth

Sam Simons once again has guided her Forestville Eagles to a comfortable victory over the Woodville Warriors 86-60 at the Nest. Simons finished with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists ably supported by Cara Annetts (13 points, 5 rebounds) and newly signed Lightning team-mate Brooke Basham (12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists). Emily Winter continued her return to form for the Warriors with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals while Serena Waters clocked up 11 points in 20 minutes before an injury led to an early finish to the night for her.

Thirteen straight for Safari Cup Tigers

The Southern Tigers comfortably claimed the Women’s Safari Cup and a thirteenth straight win 87-39 over their Central District Lions at the Cage. The Tiger onslaught was led by 29 points (60 percent) and 12 rebounds by star Centra Teige Morrell as the home team shared the remainder of the points. Meaza Otto came off the bench to lead the Lions with 12 points with although a large margin a much more rounded performance from the cellar dwelling Lions. 

Wilson shows way in Indigenous Round win

It was a proud Ngarrindjeri woman that not only celebrated NAIDOC week but also a win for her Norwood Flames as they took down the Eastern Mavericks 64-75 at the Shooting Gallery. Wilson finished with a double double of 23 points and 11 rebounds with a season high from Sophie Kerridge (17 points and 3 assists) helping back her up. Mollie McKendrick dominated the contest for the full game amassing 21 points and 15 rebounds with another indigenous player Kedeisha Kartinyeri clocking 11 points and 5 rebounds and assists. 

Sabres survive Good haul at Launch Pad

Jess Good nearly single handed dragged the Sturt Sabres down but they survived a North Adelaide Rockets fightback 79-84 at the Launch Pad. Kylee Smith returned to the Sabres with 19 points while both Mathews sisters Kayla (16 points, 6 rebounds) and Nicola (14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists) steadied the Sabre ship. Zoe Walker-Roberts also had a strong night with a near double double of 13 points at 62.5 percent along with 9 rebounds. Jess Good hauled in 25 points and 23 rebounds for the night as the most dominant performance with Taylor Ortlepp and Abi Mader also adding 16 points apiece.
