Simons returns to shoot out Mavs
The Forestville Eagles have started their campaign with a impressive perfromance at both ends as they downed the Eastern Mavericks 70-44 at their home of Wayville. Sam Simons started her season with a bang flying to a double double of 18 points and 13 rebounds while new recruit and Adelaide Lightning player Brooke Basham welcomed herself with a 10 points and 9 rebound effort along with Cara Annetts (12 points and 7 rebounds). Mollie McKendrick on return to Eastern was the best for the Mavs with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
Flames prevent Winter storm in opener
The Norwood Flames have prevailed in a tight contest to open season from a sharp looking Warriors outfit 75-79 at St Clair Recreation Centre. They had to however stop Emily Winter who dropped a double double of 28 points and 14 rebounds on debut for her club. Genna Anderson led the way for the Flames with 26 points and 11 rebounds in a double double of her own but it was the play of Georgie Garrad (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Paige Keenihan (17 points) in the absence of Ally Wilson that were the difference makers.
Splash ahh saviour of second half South Panthers
A second half shooting clinic from Ash "Splash" Spencer has propelled the Panthers to a win over the North Adelaide Rockets 87-66 at Marion Stadium. Her 33 points was backed up by superstar Olivia Thompson with 31 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists as the Panthers trailed at the half. Adelaide Lightning utility Taylor Ortlepp got her season off to lift off with 19 points and was backed ably by shooting machine Sam Defrancesco with 13 points.
West Adelaide Bearcats vs Central District Lions
The Bearcats have clawed the Lions by a large breadth with a 96-32 Saturday night onslaught. Star centre Jennie Rintala was huge with 23 points and 8 rebounds but was ably supported by Skye Langenbrinck with 25 points. For the Lions, April Rummery made a solid debut with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
