Panthers splash out Flames
The South Adelaide Panthers have splashed out the Norwood Flames via a huge bounce back from Ash “Splash” Spencer at the Firedome 47-73. Spencer led the Panthers to a 13-24 lead at quarter time en route to 22 points at 47 percent and 5 rebounds with partner in crime Olivia Thompson managing a huge double double of 15 points and 17 rebounds. Star guard Alex Wilson had 15 points, 8 rebounds to lead the Flames but only could manage 4 points after half-time quelled by the Panthers Hannah Stewart. In positive news for the Flames Bride Kennedy-Hopoate managed a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds to continue her recent form.
Sabres send Warriors walking in first half
A 47-17 first half from the home side put the result beyond doubt early at the Cave as the Sturt Sabres got away from the Woodville Warriors 81-40. The scoring was evenly spread for the Sabres led by import Kylee Smith with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Lauren Gibbons (12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists). The Warriors were led from the front once again by Emily Winter with an enormous 24 points and 22 rebounds.
McCalop messes Mavs match with second quarter onslaught
A three-point barrage from Bianca McCalop (pictured) produce a 1-27 second quarter setting up the Southern Tigers 37-90 against the Eastern Mavericks at the Shooting Gallery. McCalop produced a season high 12 points at 66 percent with 8 rebounds which all mostly came in the second but the ANZAC Medal went to Teige Morrell who continued her amazing weekend with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Jemma Thacker (15 points and 4 rebounds) and Morgan Yaeger (14 points and 9 rebounds) worked hard throughout the match with Yaeger narrowly missing her double double. Mollie McKendrick led the way for the Mavs with 11 points and 8 rebounds but struggled to find support for the afternoon.
Ortlepp owns contest to upset Bearcats
Taylor Ortlepp turned it on with 24 points including four triples to upset the high-flying West Adelaide Bearcats 71-64 at the Launch Pad. Ortlepp also added 15 rebounds including 4 offensive while young gun guard Rachel Mate dropped 20 points to help setup a 48-31 halftime lead. The Bearcats got a solid performance from Sky Langenbrinck (21 points) and a double double of Jennie Rintala (17 points and 14 rebounds) in an afternoon of few winners for the away side.
Eagles feast on young Lions
The Eagles were barely troubled by the Lions after their gallant previous night effort taking the pole position from start to finish with an 81-33 win at the Nest. Sam Simons (19 points), Amy Cotton (14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists) and Jordy Freer (16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals) were the leaders of the Eagle flock. The Lions were again boosted by the contribution of rising star centre April Rummery-Lamb with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
