Here is the recap of this round's action
Steady Jade steers Sabres to win over Rockets
The Sturt Sabres have survived a late third quarter scare sailing away from the North Adelaide Rockets 69-43 at the Cave. The Sabres led by 20 points before a North Adelaide Rockets 12-0 run across the three-quarter time break was broken as Jade Johnson steadied the Sabres ship in emphatic style with a 15-0 run to sail away from the Rockets. Kylee Smith was big again with 16 points largely dominating the first half before Johnson dropped 18 points mainly in the second half. Jess “was very” Good for the Rockets with 11 points and 15 rebounds with Captain Taylor Ortlepp the clear best for the red and white with 19 points and 3 assists.
Bride has arrived for hot Flames
Bride Kennedy-Hopoate has officially arrived in NBL1 Central with a comprehensive performance to fire the Flames to an 80-64 win over the Eastern Mavericks at the Firedome. Kennedy-Hopoate dropped 31 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists with 18 points in the second half, served delightfully by Alex Wilson with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and Genna Anderson 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Mollie McKendrick led Eastern with 17 points in the second half to finish with 24 points and 17 rebounds, while Nat Van Der Wolff nearly got the double double with 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Annetts ambushes Warriors in Castle siege
A second half scoring feast from forward Cara Annetts has set up the siege of the Castle as the undefeated Forestville Eagles swooped in for the win 54-84. Annetts finished with 24 points and 9 rebounds in a dominant performance after star Eagle Sam Simons opened the game with 11 points in first quarter to finish with 17 points and 8 assists. Warriors star forward Emily Winter was the leader once again for Woodville with 14 points along with rapidly improving Chloe Purvis with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
Tiger Ten tear Lions apart in Den
A 32-0 opening stanza saw the undefeated Southern Tigers out early against the Central District Lions as they came away with a 34-118 mauling at the Den. The 32-0 run was bookmarked by a 26-0 opening quarter before the Lions hit the scoreboard by debutant Evie Kleinig (7 points) but it didn’t get much better for the Lions with the Tigers tearing their way to the top. Ten Tigers scored 7 or more led by the usual pack in POTW for Round 3 and 4 centre Teige Morrell (23 points) and Morgan Yaeger (20 points and 5 rebounds)
Hunter stalks old prey on Sunday at Bearcat Cave
A 4-12 run across the third quarter led by former WNBL guard Jordan Hunter against her former side has seen the South Adelaide Panthers spoil a 75 years past players reunion weekend at the Bearcat Cave for a 71-85 win over West Adelaide. The biggest factor was the amount of ball stolen by the Panthers with 20 steals in the match led by the near triple double of Hunter with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The Panthers had a huge first term from star Olivia Thompson to eventually finish with a double double of 29 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals with Ash “Splash” Spencer bringing it home with 12 final quarter points to finish with 19 points. For the home side Jennie Rintala was huge with 27 points and 10 rebounds in her double double with veteran Michaela Lappin dropping 14 points and 7 rebounds. In a positive comeback story, there were several larger minutes returns including Adelaide Lightning guard Jasmin Fejo and former Norwood Flame Kelsey McKay.
