The Illawarra Hawks hit the road on Saturday night in Round 14 of the NBL1 East to beat the Central Coast Crusaders 90-71.
Kiwi Gardner continued his standout season for Illawarra with another 29 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and four assists with Lucas Walker adding 27 points and nine boards. Callum Jenkins and James Trustum both scored 12 points for Central Coast.
It was a big win at home for the Canberra Gunners as they defeated the Bankstown Bruins 105-81.
Will Mayfield scored 22 points to go with 11 rebounds for Canberra with Akech Aliir adding 21 points and 11 boards. Lachlan Anderson top-scored for Bankstown with 20 points.
The Newcastle produced a strong finish to overcome the Albury-Wodonga Bandits 92-84 on Saturday night.
Myles Cherry put up 26 points to go with 10 rebounds for Newcastle while Ryan Beisty added 19 points, 10 boards and seven assists. Lochlan Cummings delivered 29 points with five three-pointers for Albury-Wodonga.
The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles delivered a statement first half to set up an eventual 95-77 win away to the Inner West Bulls.
Indiana Faithful produced another 20 points and seven assists in the win for the Sea Eagles while Daniel Pitcher had 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Chol Adup delivered 21 points for Inner West.
It was a cracking overtime contest between the Norths Bears and Sutherland Sharks, with the Bears ending up prevailing 98-95.
Patrick Sanders finished with 27 points and eight rebounds for the Bears with Archer Woodhill scoring 24 points for Sutherland and Geoff Gerlach 23.
It was another thriller between the Hills Hornets and Maitland Mustangs with the visitors ending up winning 95-90.
Daniel Millburn scored 19 points for Maitland, Scott McGann 17, Sharif Watson 16, Matthew Gray 13, Will Cranston-Lown 12 and James Hunter 11. Paul Brotherson put up another 24 points for the Hornets.
Round 14 in the NBL1 East will wrap up on Sunday afternoon with the Canberra Gunners playing the Newcastle Falcons and the Maitland Mustangs taking on the Norths Bears.

CANBERRA GUNNERS 105 defeated BANKSTOWN BRUINS 81
The Canberra Gunners were at home to Bankstown Bruins on Saturday night and delivered a 24-point victory.
Canberra hosted Bankstown at Belconnen Basketball Stadium in NBL1 East Round 14 action and it was the Bruins who got the better of the start.
Bankstown went on a 12-0 run in the opening quarter to end up leading by as much as 11 and then still being on top 25-18 by the end of one.
The Bruins were still leading 45-41 by half-time but then in the third quarter the Gunners were able to work their way on top. The home team scored 12 consecutive points which saw them open up a 15-point lead as they took control of the contest.
Canberra kept the roll going to end up leading by as much as 28 points in the fourth quarter before winning 105-81 which sees them improve to 12-4 on the season to remain in top spot while Bankstown is 5-12 following the defeat.
The Gunners racked up 51 rebounds to just 30 from the Bruins while they ended up taking 16 extra field goals and nine more free-throws for the contest.
Will Mayfield put together 22 points and 11 rebounds in the win for Canberra with Akech Aliir contributing 21 points, 11 boards and four assists, Max Cooper 12 points and three rebounds, Glenn Morrison 11 points and nine boards, and Shaun Mills nine points and three assists.
Lachlan Anderson scored 20 points on 6/12 shooting from three-point land for Bankstown with Nathaniel Musters contributing 14 points and six rebounds, Jack Lopez 14 points and two assists, and Nathaniel Brown 13 points and three assists.
CENTRAL COAST CRUSADERS 71 lost to ILLAWARRA HAWKS 90
The Illawarra Hawks started strongly and converted that into an eventual 19-point road victory against the Central Coast Crusaders on Saturday.
The two teams did battle at Breakers Indoor Sports Stadium as part of Round 14 in the NBL1 East with the Hawks started well away from home going on an 11-0 run during the opening quarter.
That helped them to a nine-point lead which they held at quarter-time before they pushed that advantage out to 16 points in the second term and went into the half-time break leading 45-33.
Illawarra was able to push their advantage out further with an 8-0 run in the third quarter to lead by as much to 21, and the lead grew to 26 in the fourth term before the Hawks went on to win 90-71.
The Hawks improved to a 9-7 record as a result of the victory while the Crusaders are now 5-11 after the defeat.
Despite the loss, Central Coast outrebounded Illawarra 51 to 37 on the night including 25 offensive boards to 10 which helped them take 17 extra field goals.
However, the Hawks shot 50.0 per cent from the floor opposed to 33.3 while they also went 23/35 from the charity stripe opposed to 15/21.

Sean Mullan added nine points and two assists, Harry Morris eight points and four rebounds, and Patrick Lancaster seven points and three steals.
Callum Jenkins finished with 12 points and seven rebounds for the Crusaders with James Trustum contributing 12 points and four boards, Jacob Cracknell 10 points and six rebounds, and William Bates nine points, three boards and two steals.
ALBURY-WODONGA BANDITS 84 lost to NEWCASTLE FALCONS 92
The Newcastle Falcons finished strongly to beat the Albury-Wodonga Bandits by eight points on Saturday night.
The NBL1 East Round 14 match up took place at Lauren Jackson Sports Centre with Albury-Wodonga going on a 13-point scoring streak in the opening term to lead by as much as eight, and then to still be up 25-20 by quarter-time.
Newcastle turned the tide in the second term with their own 9-0 scoring run to grab the lead and to go into half-time on top 39-37.
The Falcons were able to push that lead out to 10 points during the third quarter and they maintained the advantage the rest of the way including outscoring the Bandits 25 points to 19 to end up winning 92-84.
Newcastle improved to 11-4 as a result of the win to maintain their top two position in the NBL1 East standings while Albury-Wodonga are now 8-9 to be clinging to a spot still in the top eight.
The Falcons finished up collecting 47 rebounds to 35 for the night including 20 at the offensive end to eight which helped them take 13 extra field goals as well as getting to the foul line for 10 more free-throws.
Myles Cherry delivered 26 points, 10 rebounds and three assists for Newcastle on a supremely efficient 13/17 shooting performance.
Ryan Beisty added 19 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals for the Falcons with Jaidyn Goodwin contributing 13 points and six boards, Jakob Dorricott 12 points, and Matur Maluach 11 points and two steals.
Lochlan Cummings finished with 29 points and five rebounds for Albury-Wodonga while knocking down 5/11 from three-point land.
Jack Saunders added 13 points, Duom Dawam 11 points and three rebounds, Kieran Hayward 10 points and four assists, and Jason Carter 10 points and six rebounds.
INNER WEST BULLS 77 lost to MANLY-WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES 95
The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles hit the road on Saturday and delivered the 18-point win against the Inner West Bulls.
The Bulls played host to the Sea Eagles at ELS Hall Park in Round 14 of the NBL1 East and after Inner West made a fast start to lead by seven points early, Manly-Warringah quickly took over.
The Sea Eagles shook off that early seven-point deficit to go on a 13-0 scoring run to open up an eventual 15-point advantage by quarter-time.
The visitors continued their momentum in the second period to go on another 13-0 run to see their advantage grow to 27 points and by the half-time break they were in control 59-32.
Inner West tried to find a way back into the contest throughout the second half and they did outscore Manly-Warringah 45 points to 36 the rest of the way, but the Sea Eagles still delivered the commanding 95-77 victory.
As a result of the contest, the Sea Eagles improve to a 7-11 record on the season at the end of Round 14 while the Bulls are now 8-8.
Manly-Warringah finished with 48 rebounds to 34 for the night including 10 offensive boards to just four for Inner West.
Indiana Faithful had another strong showing in the win for the Sea Eagles with 20 points and seven assists with Daniel Pitcher adding 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Will McFee added 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Kyle Painter 12 points, nine boards and four assists, Francois Dazemar 10 points, five rebounds and three assists, and Stefan Valkovic nine points and four boards.
Chol Adup delivered 21 points and two assists for Inner West while shooting 4/9 from three-point land.
Chier Maker added 17 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, Alex Higgins 14 points and seven boards, and Jasper Rentoy 13 points and three assists.
NORTHS BEARS 98 defeated SUTHERLAND SHARKS 95
The Norths Bears and Sutherland Sharks played out an NBL1 East thriller on Saturday that went to overtime at North Sydney Indoor Sports Centre.
Both teams had their moments with the lead in the opening quarter and by quarter-time it was the Sharks up 22-20.
Sutherland managed to grab the momentum throughout the second quarter with a 9-0 run to see them opening up a 12-point lead and by the half-time break they were still on top 48-41.
The Sharks were again up 14 during the third term but then the Bears fired back with their own 12-point scoring streak and that brought the deficit back to three points at three quarter-time.
It remained a tight affair throughout the fourth quarter with a Lochlan Hutchison to Archer Woodhill alley-oop giving the Sharks a two-point lead late in the piece.
Brennan Rymer drew a foul for Norths on the next possession and he hit both at the line to tie scores up, and that's how things stayed as time expired and the game went to overtime.
Then in the extra period, a three-pointer from Patrick Sanders put the Bears out to a four-point lead with under a minute to go.
But sill, Brendan Winstanley responded with a triple of his own to keep Sutherland in touch before two more free-throws to Sanders ended up securing the 98-95 win for Norths.
Patrick Sanders had a tremendous night all-round for the Bears finishing with 27 points and eight rebounds while hitting 5/10 from three-point land.
Brennan Rymer added 19 points, four rebounds and four assists, Michael Golding 13 points, 11 boards and six assists, Ben Fakira 11 points, four rebounds and three assists, Robert Moore nine points, and Iggy Mitchell eight points and seven rebounds.
Archer Woodhill delivered 24 points and 10 rebounds for Sutherland with Geoff Gerlach contributing 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Lochlan Hutchison 18 points and six assists, and Jordan Mitchell nine points and four rebounds.
HILLS HORNETS 90 lost to MAITLAND MUSTANGS 95
The Maitland Mustangs held off the fast finishing Hills Hornets for a five-point victory on Saturday.
The two teams did battle in Round 14 of the NBL1 East at Hills Basketball Stadium and it was Maitland working their way on top in the first quarter.
The Mustangs managed to go on an 8-0 run to lead by 10 and still be on top 25-19 by the end of the opening quarter.
Maitland kept that momentum going in the second quarter with another 29 points to 23 to lead by 12 points and be on top 54-42 by the half-time interval.
While the Hornets outscored them the rest of the way with 48 points to 41 in the second half, the Mustangs still hung on for the eventual 95-90 victory.
The victory improves Maitland to a 9-6 record on the season ahead of their clash with the Norths Bears on Sunday while the Hornets are now 7-11 following the five-point loss.
Daniel Millburn ended up top-scoring in the win for the Mustangs with 19 points, two rebounds and two assists on a perfect 3/3 shooting from three-point range.
Scott McGann added 17 points with 4/7 shooting from deep while Sharif Watson contributed 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals, and Matthew Gray 13 points, six boards and three assists.
Will Cranston-Lown also had 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals for Maitland, and James Hunter 11 points and nine boards.
Paul Brotherson delivered 24 points and five rebounds for the Hornets with Joe Patmore adding 14 points and two rebounds, Liam Moss 12 points and eight boards, Jack Giddens 10 points and four rebounds, and Marvin Fidel nine points and four assists.
