It was a good day and night for the road teams as the NBL1 East Women's season resumed on Saturday with four of the five games going the way of the team that was away from home.
The Round 10 matches all took place on Saturday in the NBL1 East withs wins on the road for the Norths Bears, Newcastle Falcons, Sutherland Sharks and Illawarra Hawks with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles the only home team to score a win.
The Saturday action in the NBL1 East got underway with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles winning a tight one 78-74 against the Central Coast Crusaders.
Alex Delaney finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds in the win for the Sea Eagles while Sara Matthews starred for Central Coast with 33 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals.
The Norths Bears travelled to Canberra on Saturday and came away with a 75-56 victory against the Nationals.
Riley Evans put up 21 points with six three-pointers for the Bears with Emily Simons adding 19 points and three triples with Bianca Dufelmeier top scoring for Canberra with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Newcastle Falcons hit the road as well on Saturday night and produced an impressive display to defeat the Maitland Mustangs 80-57.
Nicole Munger finished with 22 points and seven rebounds in the win for Newcastle and Chyra Evans 22 points and eight boards. Mikaela Dombkins finished with 18 points and five rebounds for the Mustangs.
It was another big road win on Saturday night as well for the Sutherland Sharks who defeated the Hills Hornets 99-54.
Vanessa Panousis knocked down 5/9 from three-point territory in the win for the Sharks with Lauren Nicholson adding 27 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Kelsey Curtin top-scored for the Hornets with 14 points.
The Illawarra Hawks continued the night's trend of road triumphs by scoring the 87-73 victory away from home against the Inner West Bulls.
Tyler Scaife led the charge in the win for Illawarra with 23 points with Georgia Ohrdorf adding 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Georgia Stirton produced 17 points and seven rebounds for the Bulls.

MANLY WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES 78 defeated CENTRAL COAST CRUSADERS 74
The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles withstood a flying finish from the Central Coast Crusaders to hold on for a four-point win at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Sea Eagles hosted the Crusaders at Northern Beaches Indoor Sports Centre to open Round 10 in the NBL1 East season, and they started well opening up a double-figure lead and being up 22-16 by the end of one.
The Manly-Warringah lead grew to 11 points in the second quarter and the home team remained in control up 33-25 at the half-time break.
The Sea Eagles extended that gap to as much as 17 during the third period and still led 60-45 at three quarter-time.
That advantage was out to 19 points during the last quarter as well but that's when Central Coast fired up and did score 11 consecutive points to make things interesting, but Manly-Warringah held on for the 78-74 victory.
The result means that the Sea Eagles improve to an 8-4 record on the season after 10 rounds while the Crusaders are now 2-9.
Alex Delaney ended up top-scoring for Manly-Warringah with 24 points and 11 rebounds while knocking down 5/8 from three-point territory.
Kim Hodge also had 14 points and five rebounds for the Sea Eagles, Antonia Henderson 14 points, seven boards and four assists, and Bree Delaney 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Sara Matthews had a splendid afternoon for Central Coast with 33 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals with Bronte Moore contributing 19 points and three boards, Jonalyn Wittwer nine points and nine rebounds.
CANBERRA NATIONALS 56 lost to NORTHS BEARS 75
The Norths Bears hit the road on Saturday afternoon and delivered a strong showing to beat the Canberra Nationals by 19 points.
Canberra played hosts to the Bears at Belconnen Basketball Stadium and did well sticking with their highly rated opponents in the first quarter trailing by just the point at quarter-time.
However, things turned dramatically in the second quarter with the Bears holding the Nationals to just the four points while scoring another 20 themselves to head into the half-time interval leading 37-20.
From there Norths maintained their control throughout the second half to lead by 26 points at one stage and ending up settling with the 75-56 victory.
The win maintains the Bears' hold on top spot in the NBL1 East competition with a 9-1 record by the end of Round 10 while Canberra now holds a 4-7 record in eighth position.
Riley Evans top scored for Norths Bears with 21 points, three assists and two rebounds while knocking down 6/10 from three-point territory.
Emily Simons added 19 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots with Carla Pitman contributing 12 points, seven boards, three assists and two steals, and Sarah Schicher 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots.
Bianca Dufelmeier put up 15 points, five rebounds and four assists for Canberra with Lizzy Tonks adding 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Natasha Lyall eight points and six boards.
MAITLAND MUSTANGS 57 lost to NEWCASTLE FALCONS 80
The Newcastle Falcons dominated the Maitland Mustangs in the second half on the way to an emphatic 23-point win on Saturday.
The Mustangs hosted the Falcons at Maitland Federation Centre on Saturday in Round 10 of the NBL1 East competition, but it didn’t take Newcastle long to work their way on top away from home.
Newcastle was on top 25-18 by quarter-time but Maitland hit back impressively in the second quarter going on an 8-0 run to hit the front at one stage, and still only trail by two points at the main break.
The Falcons dominated after half-time, though, scoring nine straight points in the third quarter to go back up 11, and then a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter saw the advantage stretch out to 25.
Newcastle went on to win the game 80-57 to see them improve to a 6-4 record by the end of Round 10 while Maitland is now 2-9.
Chyra Evans finished the contest with 22 points and eight rebounds for the Falcons while Nicole Munger added 22 points and seven boards.
Megan Johnson added 14 points and nine rebounds, Kate Kingham nine points, eight boards, five steals and three assists, and Emily Foy seven points, five rebounds and three steals.
Mikaela Dombkins fought valiantly for Maitland with 18 points and five rebounds with Daila Walker contributing 11 points and three boards, and Rachel Williams 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.
HILLS HORNETS 54 lost to SUTHERLAND SHARKS 99
The Sutherland Sharks proved too strong for the Hills Hornets in Saturday's NBL1 East match up ending up prevailing by 45 points.
The two teams met on Saturday at Hills Basketball Stadium with the Sharks not taking long to take over proceedings scoring 15 straight points to lead by 16, and to still be on top 26-15 by quarter-time.
It was another 27 points to 10 in the second quarter from Sutherland and that saw the lead grow out to 28 by the half-time interval.
It was more of the same throughout the second half with the Sharks producing 26 points to 12 in the third period, and 20 to 17 in the fourth to end up winning 99-54.
The result sees Sutherland improve to an 8-3 record after 10 rounds of the season while the Hornets now slip to 5-7 after the defeat on their home court.
It was a remarkably dominant rebounding performance from the Sharks with them pulling down 60 boards to 29 including 21 offensive rebounds to six.
Lauren Nicholson delivered 27 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals for Sutherland while shooting a brilliant 10/14 from the floor, 3/5 from three-point land and 4/4 at the foul line.
Vanessa Panousis added 25 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Sharks, Madeleine Norris 14 points and six boards, and Courtney West 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Kelsey Curtin top-scored with 14 points for the Hornets while Cassandra Pentney contributed 10 points and six rebounds, Paris Roditis 10 points and five assists, and Rhiannon Yetsenga eight points and seven rebounds.
INNER WEST BULLS 73 lost to ILLAWARRA HAWKS 87
The Illawarra Hawks broke the game open in the third quarter to set up an eventual 14-point road victory in NBL1 East action on Saturday night against the Inner West Bulls.
The Bulls were at home at ELS Hall Park to play host to the Hawks in Round 10 of the 2022 season with the Hawks managing to open up a five-point lead by quarter-time.
The lead for Illawarra did grow to nine points during the second quarter but the Bulls stayed in the contest and even briefly hit the lead before it was just a one-point advantage for the Hawks going into the half-time break.
The game might have been on the line at half-time, but it didn’t stay that way for long with Illawarra blowing it wide open outscoring the Bulls 29 points to 14 to end up leading by as much as 19 points.
That took the game out of reach of Inner West and Illawarra went on to record the 87-73 victory.
That result sees the Hawks improve to an 8-3 record in fourth position by the end of Round 10 while the Bulls are now 0-11 and still chasing that first victory in the NBL1 East competition.
Tyler Scaife ended up delivering 23 points to go with three rebounds and two assists for Illawarra with Georgia Ohrdorf contributing 20 points, seven boards, five assists and four steals.
Ella Dent added 12 points, eight assists, five steals and three rebounds while Asha Phillips also had 17 points and five boards.
Georgia Stirton finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists on 3/4 shooting from downtown for Inner West with Tasmyn Haynes adding 14 points, three boards and three assists, and Daphnee Frieson 12 points and 12 rebounds.
