There were Round 9 NBL1 East Saturday victories for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Canberra Nationals, Norths Bears, Albury-Wodonga Bandits and Illawarra Hawks.

There were Round 9 NBL1 East Saturday victories for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Canberra Nationals, Norths Bears, Albury-Wodonga Bandits and Illawarra Hawks.
The action began on Saturday afternoon at the Northern Beaches with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles defeating the Maitland Mustangs 98-57.
Kim Hodge was the star of the afternoon for the Sea Eagles with 25 points on 11/16 shooting with Hannah Fox top-scoring for Maitland with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Next up on Saturday evening was the Canberra Nationals winning on the road 104-64 against the Inner West Bulls.
Yar Mayen put up 20 points with five three-pointers off the bench for Canberra with Rachel Kemp top-scoring from the bench as well for the Bulls with 14 points.
The Norths Bears continued their impressive start to the 2022 season improving to an 8-1 record beating the Hills Hornets 82-59.
Emily Simons delivered 21 points and four steals in the win for the Bears with Kelsey Curtin putting up 16 points for the Hornets.
Lauren Jackson was once again the difference in the stadium named in her honour with the Albury-Wodonga Bandits beating the Sutherland Sharks 93-82.
Jackson was again outstanding with 35 points and seven rebounds while Amelia Hassett added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Madeleine Norris finished with 25 points for the Sharks.
The evening's action wrapped up with the Illawarra Hawks winning at home 74-65 against the Central Coast Crusaders.
Rebecca Abel was impressive for the Hawks with 21 points with Ella Dent adding 18 while Sara Matthews scored 22 points to go with 11 rebounds and five assists for Central Coast.
The NBL1 East competition will enjoy a general bye over the Queen's Birthday long weekend before Round 10 sees all matches take place on Saturday June 18.
That will see the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles host the Central Coast Crusaders, the Canberra Nationals play the Norths Bears, the Maitland Mustangs take on the Newcastle Falcons, the Hills Hornets are at home to the Sutherland Sharks, and the Inner West Bulls face the Illawarra Hawks.

MANLY-WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES 98 defeated MAITLAND MUSTANGS 57
The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles proved too strong for the Maitland Mustangs cruising to a 41-point win at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Sea Eagles were back home at Northern Beaches Indoor Sports Centre and they started well against the Mustangs with 24 points to 13 in the opening quarter.
Manly-Warringah went on another 9-0 run during the second term and eventually would lead by as much as 30 points before being in control going into the half-time break leading 55-28.
The scoring for both teams dried up in the third quarter but the Sea Eagles extended their lead to 36 points by three quarter-time, and they completed the job in the fourth to end up winning 98-57.
The result improves the Sea Eagles to a 7-4 record 11 games and nine rounds into the 2022 NBL1 East season while the Mustangs are 2-8.
Kim Hodge was the star of the afternoon's win for Manly-Warringah with 25 points, five rebounds, five steals, three assists and two blocked shots on 11/16 shooting from the floor.
Alex Delaney added 17 points, 10 rebounds and four rebounds for the Sea Eagles, Maja Jurlina 17 points and four boards, Antonia Henderson 15 points, eight boards and six assists, and Meg Jeffs eight points and five assists.
Hannah Fox top-scored for Maitland with 13 points and nine rebounds while Rachel Williams contributed 10 points and six assists, and Mila Wawszkowicz eight points, 14 rebounds, four assists and two steals.
INNER WEST BULLS 64 lost to CANBERRA NATIONALS 104
The Canberra Nationals inflicted some more pain on the winless Inner West Bulls on Saturday winning by 40 points away from home.
The Bulls were at home to the Nationals at ELS Hall Park still chasing their first win of the 2022 season in the NBL1 East competition, and they were able to stick with the visitors in the first quarter.
Canberra only narrowly led 25-20 at the end of the first quarter but the Nationals then pulled away to put the game just about out of reach of Inner West with 30 points to seven in the second term.
That saw the Nationals lead 55-27 by half-time and they went on with the job after the break with another 23 points to 16 in the third term, and 26 to 21 in the fourth quarter to end up winning 104-64.
The result sees Canberra improve to a 4-6 record on the season following the first nine rounds while the Bulls are still winless at 0-10.
Lizzy Tonks ended up with 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the win for the Nationals with Bianca Dufelmeier adding 17 points, eight assists, seven boards and three steals, and Kristen Langhorn 17 points and eight rebounds.
It was Yar Mayen who top-scored in the win for Canberra with 20 points and three steals on 5/8 shooting from deep with Abby Solway adding 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Rachel Kemp finished with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists for the Bulls with Georgia Stirton contributing 14 points and five boards, Abby O'Flynn 11 points and five rebounds, and Daphnee Frieson 10 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots.
NORTHS BEARS 82 defeated HILLS HORNETS 59
It was a strong showing at home from the Norths Bears on Saturday evening to beat the Hills Hornets by 23 points.
The Bears were back home at North Sydney Indoor Sports Centre but it was the Hornets who started the better leading 19-17 by the end of the opening quarter.
It was a low scoring affair in the second quarter with just the combined 18 points between the two teams but the Bears managed to assume a 28-26 lead by the break.
The scoring picked up in the third period and the Bears put the game to bed with 29 points to 15 to head into three quarter-time leading 57-41.
The home team added another 25 points to 18 in the final period to end up winning 82-59 to see them improve to an 8-1 record on the season to maintain their hold on top spot at the end of nine rounds of the NBL1 East competition.
The Hornets, meanwhile, slip to a 5-6 record as a result of the defeat.
Emily Simons delivered 21 points, four steals, two assists and two steals on 10/16 shooting from the floor for Norths.
Riley Evans added 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists for the Bears, Kate Seebohm 18 points, eight assists, four rebounds and two steals, Jessica Bygate eight points and 12 boards, and Lauryn Walker eight points.
ALBURY-WODONGA BANDITS 93 defeated SUTHERLAND SHARKS 82
The Albury-Wodonga Bandits were again impressive with Lauren Jackson leading the way on the way to an 11-point home win against the Sutherland Sharks on Saturday night.
The Bandits were back home at Lauren Jackson Sports Centre with Jackson again in the line-up for them to host the travelling Sharks.
The home team got off to a good start as well to lead 28-21 by quarter-time before going on an 8-0 run during the second term to lead by as much as 14 points but it was still a game in the balance at the half with the Bandits leading the Sharks 50-44.
It was Sutherland then in the third quarter with the visitors going on a run of scoring 14 consecutive points to open up a lead by as much as 10 points, and still to be on top 67-61 at three quarter-time.
That meant that Jackson and the Bandits had to respond in the fourth quarter and they were up to the task scoring 32 points to 15 including going on a run of 11 straight points to end up turning that six-point deficit into a lead by as much as 11 points.
Albury-Wodonga went on to win the game 93-82 to improve to an 8-2 record on the season while Sutherland is now 7-3 following the defeat.
Once again Lauren Jackson came up huge for the Bandits delivering 35 points and seven rebounds on 12/20 shooting from the floor, 3/6 from beyond the arc and 8/9 from the foul line.
Amelia Hassett also delivered 20 points and 10 rebounds for Albury-Wodonga, Brodie-Paige Theodore 17 points, 10 boards, five assists and three steals, and Ai Yamada 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Madeleine Norris finished with 25 points on 7/12 shooting from beyond the arc for the Sharks with Vanessa Panousis adding 22 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals while hitting 4/7 from three-point range.
Lauren Nicholson also had 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Courtney West six points and five boards.
ILLAWARRA HAWKS 74 defeated CENTRAL COAST CRUSADERS 65
The Illawarra Hawks had to hold out a late charge from the Central Coast Crusaders to score a nine-point win at home on Saturday night.
The Hawks hosted the Crusaders at The Snakepit in Wollongong and while they scored seven straight points for an early lead, the Crusaders were able to hit back with their own 8-0 run and lead 16-15 by quarter-time.
Illawarra returned serve in the second quarter to end up scoring 20 points to 10 and end up leading 35-26 going into the half-time break.
The Hawks pulled away further in the third quarter at one stage scoring nine straight points to lead by 21 points.
The Crusaders did keep coming and outscored the Hawks 25 points to 17 in the final term, but Illawarra was still able to hold on for the 74-65 victory to improve to 7-3 on the season while the Crusaders are now 2-8 by end of Round 9.
Rebecca Abel finished the evening with 21 points and six rebounds for Illawarra while knocking down 5/13 from three-point territory.
Ella Dent added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Hawks, Tyler Scaife 16 points and six boards, and Georgia Ohrdorf 10 points and seven rebounds.
Sara Matthews top-scored for Central Coast with 22 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots.
Nicole Hutchins added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Crusaders, Bronte Moore 11 points, Jonalyn Wittwer 10 points and five boards, and Elizajane Loader eight points, nine rebounds and three assists.
